Hi there
Has anyone elses bub turned overnight into an absolute terror on the change table????
My nine month old has been sitting up and crawling since she was six months old but in the last week or two has taken to being an absolute worm on the change table, turning over and trying to crawl off it etc etc.....
It's driving me insane.
I have tried changing her on the floor and the exact same thing happens. I have also tried giving her a wipe to play with or a spare nappy or her dummy or something to play with all to no avail....
Anyone else in the same situation?????
Any useful ideas????
It gets my hubby and I quite mad..
:shame:

Olivia has just turned 6 months and she to is starting to worm around. She has never minded getting changed ( and still doesn't), she is just capable of doing so much more now, that includes wriggling all over the place. I keep an assortment of toys on the change table , that seems to work for now.
I haven't reached that stage of development yet (heaven help us!! ) but - what about buying a toy that is JUST for nappy changes??? something special that can only be accessed at that time?? (should hypothetically be more captivating?!!?)
good luck!!

Hi
My little one goes through stages of this too - sometimes something different to distract him works - like a tube of nappy cream or something that he usually wouldn't be allowed to have.
Sometimes it is just a matter of perservering, and waiting it out until bub realises there is no getting out of it. Sometimes I chuck in the towel, so to speak, and let him roam nappy-less until he calms down. And sometimes we have to physically restrain him on the floor (not fun, usually after a bath :( )
I totally understand your frustration, but I'm yet to find a foolproof way to make it easy again.
I tell ya, it sure does make you appreciate it when you get a stress-free nappy change - that sort of thing makes my day sometimes :) Tragic huh...

Maybe something like a mobile hanging from the ceiling above the change table?
(a dangly thing, not a phone )
A friend of mine had the same problem with her DD, they got this beautiful butterfly thing that hung from the ceiling, and the mum would just touch it and it would go up and down, looked like it's wings were flapping. It caught bubs attention for a few seconds.... and mum just got reeeeeally good at changing the nappy quickly!!!
If it makes you feel any better - they do grow out of it... well Eloise did. Distraction worked for me. I gave her wipe to play with or the powder. A picture of daddy in a frame worked really well too.
Oh its a nightmare changing nappys, I get breathless, sweaty and then I have to turn around and do the other one!!!
Help me Rhonda!
(a dangly thing, not a phone )
Now that you mention it, that is a great thing to use! We sometimes give Andrew one of our mobiles (usually DH's crusty one) with the keypad lock on, to play with while we change him. Works really well (sometimes!)

My DS started doing this at about 5mths and is now almost 15mths & still doing it. It's an absolute nightmare. We now change him on the floor and have literally tried everything in the house to distract him but nothing works more than once (we are running out of things to use). I'm starting to believe that he will never grow out of it or at least not until he's fully toilet trained. Hope the next one won't be the same.

I always have a nightmare with my DD when it comes to nappy changes!
I get the full works....screams,,rigid body, scratching herself, holding her breath. I try and distract her but sometimes you just have to hold her down with your arm to get the nappy on.
Funny though.........the past 3 times I have asked DH to put her nappy on because I was busy running round getting dinner ready etc.........i have come back into the room to find DD playing quite happily with her nappy on........without the faintest mumur (sp).
I asked DH what he does differently and her just looked at me and said ' I don't know why you make such a fuss about it......it's easy...no big deal'!!
So anyway.......the next morn i asked him again to change her nappy.....but i spied on him:laughing:
Guess what he was doing?!!! Giving her sly sweets!!!!! He has wipes and everything ready to wipe her hands afterwards so I wouldn't find out!!!!!
How sly is that!!!
Though I actually might try it myself:p

My 16 month old does this to. Its so frustrating. I have to change him on the floor sort of locked between my legs. Even though I'm not a guy, it hurts when you get kicked in the groin! lol
