Hi ladies,
I am hoping you can help me. We are coming to Adelaide in August for a holiday, we are flying and don't really want to hire a car if we can get away with it. I am after some advice on where to stay, we were thinking of somewhere close to the city for public transport. Neither of us has ever been to Adelaide before so don't know where all the suburbs are, oh and we want to try and get a house for the week as well. Is the public transport good enough to not have to hire a car. What is the weather like at that time of year?
Sorry for all the questions :ecomcity:and thanks for you help.:)

Hi there,
Any ideas on where you want to go or what you want to do? Adelaide is quite small, but I wouldnt say the public transport system is that good compared to somewhere like Melbourne. If you stay in the city, maybe you could plan to do all the things you want to do close by and then maybe just hire a car for a few days so you can venture out and do some other things. I am happy to help you in any way I can.
Hi,
In terms of public transport in Adelaide I would personally stick to the train lines and the tram line. You could stay in Glenelg (although it will be cold and prob wet) and take the tram to do the city stuff. You can go to the museum and the zoo in town (the zoo is a bit of a hike from Rundle Mall but not too far). There is also Tandanya in the city. If you want to go to some wineries you will need to hire a car to go to maybe the Barossa. Also at Glenelg there is Wiggly Worms which is a good play cafe.
What kind of things do you want to do?

Thanks guys. We don't really know what we want to see. We do want to see the Adelaide Zoo, go to or stay at Glenelg, not really sure of anything else. Any reccomendations would be greatly appreciated, we will have to 2 kids, 16 and 4 years old. We do want to see as much as we can in the week that we are there. We don't drink wine but will still probably do a day trip to the Barossa or somewhere just for a sticky. This will be our first big trip interstate so not really sure what to expect. I suppose we would like to stay in the one place for accomodation as it makes it cheaper for the week and we just thought we would stay somewhere close to public transport but weren't sure where, so again, recommendations for places to stay as well would be appreciated. Thanks for your help ladies.
