hi, bit of a wierd question here but...
i had a cpl of operations at hospital this week and they gave me another ultrasound to check baby was ok after being put too sleep and to cut a long story short she sid my baby has a big head! i asked how big and she said it was on the 90th exile or something?? she kept going on about it being rather large and she made me really paranoid! i keep having visions of this tiny baby coming out with this huge head. ive asked an o.b and a midwife about it and they laughed at me i think they thought i was joking!
i dont think this is something i would normally worry about but so far this week i've broken my arm and wrist in several places and its gonna be out of action for at least 6 wks, i had to stay in hospital for days, had 2 ops, got thrush from the antibiotics and now ive got piles!!! im feeling a bit delicate and now im thinking my bub has an abnormal head. does anyone know if its normal for the head to measure up to the 90th exile?
im really sorry for sounding like such a sad paranoid cow :(

You're not a sad paranoid cow! (sorry, I had to giggle at your choice of words :D )

I wouldn't worry about it. People often get told that their baby is big/small/long/short etc. at their u/s appointments... Mine told me that I was going to have a big baby, but Mitch was only 6 pound! :confused:

As for all your other ailments... :hugs: I hope you feel better soon.

32-37 is the 'normal head circum range' with 90th percentile being 36cm head....

i wouldnt worry about that at all!!

Hi, Its perfectly normal for a babys head to be on the 90th centile. Most babies will fall somewhere between the 3rd and 97th centile, with the 50th centile being the average. This means that your babies head is larger than 90% of the babies of that gender at that age.
Stop worrying, enjoy the rest of your pregnancy and get better soon.

DOnt stress !

Sonographers tends to make out like babies are too big etc sometimes as do some medical staff :rolleyes:

It was great your Ob & middies laughed it showed that it was nothing to stress about !

I think we are all guilty of being paranoid or worried at least once or twice in our pregnancies ! I think i stressed out pretty much every few weeks lol !

All will be fine :hugs::hugs:

My son had a 37cm head! (above 90th percentile)

But all is fine. His head grew sligltly slower after the birth and he is all back in proportion now.

When preg with #2 i asked for a scan to see the size of his head, and they wouldn't do it saying it can be very inaccurate!

so don't stress too much
