Family Holiday Suggestions Please!

Ok, so we're looking at planning a family holiday (7-10 days or thereabouts) in 2009 and want to know what you all suggest. I was thinking somewhere like the Gold Coast for Seaworld/Movie World type places - any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Getting in early now so we can research and SAVE :thumbsup:

There will be 4 of us (me, DH, DD 8/9ish, DS 2/3ish) flying from Perth.

Where do you suggest?
What time of the year do you suggest?
Accomodation suggestions (we'd be wanting self-contained)?
What sort of attractions are there?

I guess holiday choices are pretty personal things, what one person recommends another may hate! What do you like doing? What type of weather do you like? How adaptable are your family? What type of accommodation can you afford? Are you city or isolated oriented? Check costs of all those touristy things cos they can add up. We could never afford to go to the GC when our kids were littel (and they never let us forget it:laughing:) But we've done mountain/country/farm holidays, beach, driving trips, family holidays (don't recommend the last two!)

Probably research places on the internet (but bear in mind it rarely looks as good as the pics!!!)

Also keep in mind the weather at the time of year you plan to go...like you'd be p'd off if had a GC holiday right now!!
