Hi Ladies,
I went out today and brought some new bras. I keep getting told that you should not wear underwires anymore cause the wire can press on a milk duct.
Amyway, I didnt actually realise how much I had grown. I am usually a small 12B so I thought I should try a 12C and it was wonderfully comfortable. When I had finished trying them on I put my bra back on and had to laugh. My boob was coming out the side and my nipple was about to pop out the top. I knew I was growing but I didnt think it was that much yet. If this keeps going I am going to be a D. Oh my god !
So I bought a regular 12C wirefree, a maternity 12C (even though I prob wont fit it when I am breastfeeding but its so comfy) and a regular 14B wirefree which was also really comfy but prob does not fit me exactly. (Hey it was $5, one left at Target) Good old Target bra sale. I went rumaging through all the racks cause there are hardly any nice wirefree bras there.
I might think about getting measured properly at bras and things later and getting a nice maternity bra. Actually has anyone seen the range of "Hot Milk" maternity bras and undies. They are so gorgeous. Might have to treat myself later. Try and feel a bit sexy when you just dont at all. IYKWIM???
Anyone else got any lovely bra stories. I just thought I would share with you.

Hi Bree. No bra story to tell, but thanks for your positive one. I think I have gone from a small c to a rather largish D so have been putting it off but you have inspired me!
I always wanted the boob fairy to visit and now she has been I want her to come back and take her "gift" away!
I have seen Hot Milk - gorgeous!

Oh boy, here we go: I am NORMALLY a 12D and I am too scared to go and get measured. I too have nipples falling out the front of my bras and they ride up at the bottom of the front. I have heard the thing about the wire bras and I asked in a maternity shop this afternoon as I was wondering the same thing and the lady told me that to buy a maternity bra now would be a big waste of money because they are going to doube in size from here on in. I almost fell over. WHOA BABY!
When I first fell PG they got bigger. A friend nudged DH and said "I bet you're having fun with those babies". DH responded "I would if I could get near them!" so that explains it... they are great to look at but not much fun at all!
On a more positive note, the lady in the maternity shop said that it I absolutely have to buy maternity bras, get cheap ones. Being in the middle of nowhere, there's not much to chose from so may do the half hour drive next day off to Target.
I will Google the Hot Milk ones now though. Thanks!

I "think" they can cause blocked milk ducts?? I wore normal u/wire bras last preg, and had no problems, and have so far this preg too...but I'm starting to find them a tad uncomfortable.
I bought 2 cheapie maternity bras yesterday,I think I'll start wearing them now for comfort.
Just to let you know....Bendon have bought out a range of maternity bras with "flexiwire" in them,if you still want a bra with wire in it,these might be a better option.
They look gorgeous, they don't look like a maternity bra,and they go from B through to F sizes.:)

Yes underwire bras are potentially bad for you (.)(.)s! They can cause blocked ducts and OUCHY that is sore!!
I would seriously recommend going out and buying cheapo non wired bras that fit and are comfy for now. I bought sports bras when pregnant with DS (wearing them again now) as I found the support better - sensitive (.)(.)s!
I found my boobs didnt get much bigger than than they are now for the rest of the pregnancy really. (big growth spurt in the beginning and thats it) They grew more after DS was born... especially when the milk came in. I went up to an E!! I was a B pre pregnancy.
So anyway, my point is, buying some bras now should last you the rest of the pregnancy. Then you'll need new ones once bubs arrives - if breastfeeding... breastfeeding bras rock - even if they look like they belong on your nanna! I'm not sure what happens to (.)(.)s if not breastfeeding... maybe one of the other ladies knows...
Hope that helps! Sorry to :ecomcity:

I HATE buying bras!!!
Before DS i was a 12E.
A couple of weeks before i gave birth i was measured for a maternity bra at a size 18G :( (I had a LOT of fluid, and i think the lady in the shop assumed i would get bigger)
After giving birth i went down considerably, but even now i am still a 14F.
Anyway, moral of the story... if you are anything like me, try not to buy too many bras too soon. Breasts fluctuate, esp with breastfeeding. And maternity bras can be really expensive.
For those looking for a larger chest, Triumph put out a really comfy one - not all that sexy, but practical and gives for a nice shape under clothes.

Its not just about comfort, the underwires can actually prevent your milk ducts from forming properly, and can cause blocked ducts (as some of the others have said), which, long-term can cause some really awful health problems - not to mention the pain!
the lady told me that to buy a maternity bra now would be a big waste of money because they are going to doube in size from here on in. I almost fell over. WHOA BABY!
What a CROCK! She doesn't know that! Honestly, some of the things you hear! (not cross with you - just with stupid sales ladies who talk out of their bums! :p)
If you're worried about getting bras that won't fit later on (which IS a valid concern, admittedly - but nobody can tell what any given woman's breasts are going to do - one woman might double, one might not change at all, one might get SMALLER), perhaps buy some of the bonds wireless crop-top type dealies, they're under $15 and have a bit more 'give' in them than maternity bras. But remember, maternity bras are actually made with 'give' in them - My very first maternity bra was a size 12C to E. That's how it was labelled. Meaning, you bought it when you were a size C, but you could still fit in if you got to a size E quite comfortably. Which I find out when my milk came in....
HTH :)
My cup size doesnt seem to have increased much (thank goodnessas am DD) but I'm bigger around the ribs/back. Had to gi buy a bigger bra to get round me as felt like my others strangling me..
Am usually a 12-14 DD
got a 16 C
Just brought acheapy maternity one in kmart Sales as figure I will grow more.
Am drooling over the Hotmilk ones!!

I'm a 12B normally, and got 2 maternity bra's about a week ago - a 12C and 12D. I hadn't grown that much in the breast area, but in the last week I've nearly grown out of both of them! I got them from a factory outlet and together they cost me $30. But I'll try to keep an eye out for sales at Target. Talk about expensive!!! But worth it for comfort

Wow you all have the best stuff to say.
Also with underwire, as mentioned, it can sit on milk ducts and cause them to not form properly. But it can also increase the risk of getting mastitus (sp?) which we all want to try and avoid.
The thing I dont like about maternity bras is the fact that they have such a big cup area. IYKWIM. They sit so high and when I wear my singlet tops they can sometimes be seen underneith. I love having nice bras. It does something for my confidence??? And I just dont feel nice in these bras I bought. Maybe later I will splash out on a hotmilk one. Just to feel good about myself again.
Oh yeah. I hava a quick question: As I am usually a 12B, is it likely I will change size as well as cup size. Like go to a 14? All the sizings confuse me. Maybe a fitting is the only way to go.
Take care everyone.

Bree27 - I think everyone is different re bra sizing and the only way to know is to get fitted. I do agree with you about the singlet issue. I have the most comfortable bras (everyday, not maternity) but they have really thick straps and are high up at the front too which means when I wear singlets (MOST of the time!), I have to wear an unsupportive bra because it has thin straps. I don't think you can be comfortable AND sexy at the same time. Give up trying!!!
I really really want to get me a maternity bra though as don't want to get mastitis or block my milk ducts.

Bree - get fitted ;) it saves the hassle of trying to figure it out for yourself. TBH with you - I've found that smaller boutique lingerie shops are MUCH better at fitting maternity bras than big chain stores like Bras n' Things, or Myers etc.
Also, if you hate maternity-looking bras, have a look at the Lovable ones - they come in funky colours like pink, jade, turquoise etc (there's actually BLACK available too - unheard of in a mat bra *sigh*), and they don't seem to sit any higher than non-mat bra....I can wear relatively low cut tops under mine with no probs...

Wow! New bra buying is traumatic.
I had to buy a new bra today and was absolutely GOBSMACKED to discover that I am now an F cup. I started off as an 18D/18DD, and am now an 18F/20E.
I knew that had grown, but woww.. this is incredible.
DP claims it's 'F for Fabulous!' Feels more like 'F for Freaky!'
Just needed to share as I am feeling moderately traumatised with nobody to whine too. ;)

before i had DD i was a 14d after i went up to a 16dd i am going to have to get fitted too as i am hanging out of the bras i have now,
i tried on some of my old maternity bras (which cost me a fortune) and they are way too small.
i just hope after this bub they go back to at least a 1 d! have you noticed you cannot buy nice bras in bigger sizes, it annoys me.....

i agree candiee! The bigger you get, the uglier the bras get.
The 18F I bought is gorgeous, though. It's Lovable brand and I got it in Myer for $30, so I thought that was quite good. They had really lovely bras from a size 10-18, A-G I think it was?
Good luck!

Well I can welcome myself to the club now. I bought 2 maternity bras at Big W today. Just cheapies but I can now say bye bye to the underwires! YAY! And my (.)(.)'s were starting to tumble out the front of my bras anyway.
So I already have one on as I was so uncomfortable today and I AM IN HEAVEN!!!
One is Bonds and the other is Big W's own brand. It can still adjust bigger in the back and straps too but I don't think I have much more room in the cup so we'll see how we go. It's a 12D and that's what I am normally pre pregnancy. I thought the look of the DD's were HUGE so didn't bother trying one on. Oh well these will do for now. The important thing is that I am comfortable once again! YAY!

I'm not sure if it was a nationwide sale at Myer, Milk_Monkey, but I assume so! Good luck :)

Im about a 14C.. they have stayed bigger from DS.
They have become fuller with this pregnancy, but haven't needed to go up a size YET..
I still wear the underwire ones, but they are soft T/shirt bras.. so is no underwire better????

BirthingBeauty - the wire interferes with your milk ducts so not good. On the other hand, my 12DD's bounce all over the place without the support of wire! I can see them ending up somewhere around my knees by the end of this!!!
