Hi Girls,

I was wondering of the novocastrians amongst us, if anyone else has booked into the antenatal classes at the JHH. I figure that as we are roughly around the same mark in time frames, we might very well end up in the same classes. I am booked in to start on the 26th February. It would be great to know if there is anyone else attending these classes.

Hi, emm11e, my name is jodie and i have had all my kids at JHH , but i have never been to the ante natal classes, i am a little unhappy with the clinic there at the moment, they told me that they couldn't do the NT scan and that i will have to go to a private ultrasound place,:banghead: and it is going to cost me over $200, I had a NT scan at the hospital with some of my other kids, but now they only do ''high risk patients', have you had the same problem let me know what happened, sorry i'm going off topic.:ecomcity:

Hi Jodie,

I had to go through Hunter Radiology for my NT scan. It was around $114 (although they didn't charge me come to think of it). I was informed of the same when I contacted them about it. I think that the reasoning behind this is that there are only a relatively few public hospitals that have maternity services etc. I think that is JHH, Belmont and Maitland. That is why shared care with GPs is much more common, which is what I am doing.

I go for my 20 week scan on the 18th of this month and I have decided to go back to Hunter Radiology. I did have the choice of having my ultrasound at the Drs which was free but I decided to pay the $150 to have the scan done there. Although the cost of the ultrasounds is ridiculous I can highly recommend Hunter Radiology, I found the staff to be welcoming and professional and were pretty attentive to my needs.

Thanks for that, I think i might change to Hunter Radiology, I have been to them before and they were great, congrats on your pregnancy I might see you at the JHH clinic , it's a bit hectic at that clinic from what i can remember, my youngest was born in march 07 and the clinic was pretty full then. Good luck.

Hey Girls!!!!

I am booked in for my first appointment with the JHH on 21 January (bit late, but better late than never).

Emm11e - I am not sure whether I will be going to the antenatal classes. This is my first baby however so maybe I should, but I just get so embarrassed..... but you are right in that it would be good going to the same classes. I will see how it goes at this appt in a couple of weeks and let you know :)
