Kachow- please let us know when you find out. I want to know but DH doesn't. :(
Hopefully this will change when we are looking at the screen at the end of Jan.
Last scan he spent watching the smile on my face so maybe I can get the guy to show ME on the screen while DH is not looking. Sounds good in theory but I can't keep a secret to save my life - everyone already knew I was PG at 5 wks!

supemumof2 - my nightly toilet breaks (about 3 per night) are driving me insane too!

Since this is just a chatter thread I thought I'd share what happened to me this morning:

I was in Big W searching for those Belly Belts as can't do up pants anymore and while I was asking a staff member, a lady was stood there watching me. Then she said to me "You're the lady from (name of where I work), aren't you?" I told her I was and she said "Want to hear the funniest thing? I was just telling my husband the other day that I wondered when you were going to have a baby because you're always at work". Now although she looked familiar, I have NO IDEA who this lady was. It is strange to think there was someone out there wondering when I was going to have a baby. Also strange for someone ELSE to notice I am always working. Wierd..... but still in a nice way.

Anyway thought I'd share.

I have had no specific cravings as yet. I get hungry and eat pretty much anything and everything.

How weird!! A bit creepy thinking someone is almost keeping tabs on you though! I'm sure she was harmless though!

The peeing at night is annoying! It doesnt help that I get so thirsty though so I get up to pee but have to have a big glass of water before heading back to bed. Vicious cycle!!

fluffball - I drink nothing after about 8pm and often don't hit the sack until about 10pm. I empty my bladder before I go to bed but STILL... SOMEHOW... I STILL get up to pee. Rest assured - your glass of water is not causing your problems! ;)

I was in Big W searching for those Belly Belts

Hey Noosamumtobe, did you find those belly belts, BTW how do they work?

Butterflies&Hurricanes
03-01-2008, 11:11 AM
I have the bellybelts too. Dont use them very often. Only when I am wearing a long top that covers the button/zip section - It still looks like you have your pants undone. :o
I think the belly band is probably the better option. Havent got one yet though. Anyone got one?? Is it worth it??

This is the bellybelt http://www.belly-belt.com/

fluffball lmao i am doing exactly the same big glass of water on my way back to bed.
i have seen those belly band things on ebay for like $8 new ones a few people selling heaps of them i dont have any tho so not sure what they r like

mumofsamuel
03-01-2008, 11:20 AM
Well fluffball already answered the belly belt question already but most of my tops are long so I don't mind my pants loking undone.

I have a belly band but it's still too loose for me to wear. And I feel like I need something tighter to hold my jeans up.

Never did find them but am going to check out a maternity shop a little later.

Butterflies&Hurricanes
03-01-2008, 11:26 AM
I think I saw some belly belts at Target! But otherwise I know Babies Galore have them cos thats where I bought mine.
Otherwise there are heaps on ebay!
Really you band is too lose? Oh poo I thought it would be tightish and just stretch as you grow! Hmmmm maybe I shouldnt get one then.

mumofsamuel
03-01-2008, 11:36 AM
Bonds had a 2 pack in Target and my sis is PG too so my mum bought the 2 pack and gave one to each of us. It would be good to cover any love handles or to wear over short tops to cover the gap but it wouldn't hold your jeans up IYKWIM.

03-01-2008, 11:45 AM
Ah ok. Not what I am after then. Guess I will just have to live in my stretchy or drawstring pants for a while!

Depending on where you go you can get bands in different sizes. I like them just so that you cant see my tummy when my shirts ride up.

Hi girls,

I just wanted to let others know about this great gift that was given to me on the weekend. I was shopping in Big W and came across a book titled "New Mother's Journal- A practical Organiser". The book is worth $10 but I think the benefits far out way it. It is divided into different sections to include appointments, Baby Well Being, Lists and Information, Gift Register & contacts. My favourite section is Baby Well Being where you can chart and record the baby's feeding and sleeping patterns as well as other notes, there is also a space for when you introduce solids to record what kind, how much etc.

As a first time mum to be I am definately going to take advantage of this little book (beats my usual organisation skills of writing things on post it notes).

Does anyone know of any other types of journals that are similar?

Em

mumofsamuel
03-01-2008, 02:10 PM
My sister gave me a journal for my birthday that is similar but less practical and more of a keepsake. The first page starts with "The day we found out mummy was pregnant with you, we felt...". It has heaps of pages like this along with some pages for pics and others to stick things in like the ID tag from the hospital and it goes right through to baby's first birthday. You record it's first Christmas with first presents, who from, etc and also when they start on solids and all sorts. I have started filling in "first time we heard the heartbeat" but there have only been a couple of things happen so far that go into the book. It was a great gift though and I can't wait to fill out more.

Also to the ladies who were talking hayfever before, I have a friend staying with us who works for a pharmaceutical company and he said Rhinocort Hayfever Nasal Spray is Category 1 (safe for preggy ladies) and non drowsy. He said it's a very low dose and completely safe. I am not saying take my word for it as I am not a Dr but it sounds like it's worth a look into or ask the OB about. Might help...

A June thread - what a great idea! I've got to think about clothing in the next week or so as I only have two pants and three dresses that I fit into. Thank god the fashion is so flowing at the moment.

I don't have any food cravings, in fact i am pretty much off food. I did crave a donut today but couldn't be bothered stopping to buy one. My ob has told me to put my feet up today because I am having ANOTHER bleed - my third since BFP! He thinks all is okay, perhaps a small damage to the placenta. Have an appointment tomorrow to check for the heartbeat.

Peeing at night not a problem for me but SO restless at night. Also been having headaches. How come they don't tell you this sort of stuff about pregnancy???

Have a great night!

Hi everyone!

Im loving all sorts of foods at the mo... not interested in fish as much as i was with DS.
I too fancy a pickle onion or two with cheese! I just get a craving for any type of food & have to have it white choc!! & lemonade haha:laughing:.......... feeling really good now im 18wks.. still get tired though & suffer from insomnia at times, i need a nana nap during the day aswell, wearing maternity clothes(pants) as they feel better around my belly.. peeing lots aswell..start yoga soon & am doing regular reflexology which is magic!!!! taking supplements which make me feel good!!

mumkc - enjoy your relaxing night and I hope you're feeling better soon.

I just bought a belly belt. The lady in the shop said I was doing well to still fit into my tight jeans at 15 wks so I'm stoked. At least now I can keep on wearing them. YAY!

And when I got home I tried on the band again and found it fits quite well now. It just fits me which means that it will stretch from here. It's a Bonds size S so it also means I can get bigger ones if I need. I feel like I'm all equipped for a more comfortable work life now. I have my belly belt to make my work shorts bigger around the waist and then a band to wear over the top in case my work shirt comes up a little. I will definintely feel more comfortable now.

A June girls thread..great idea fluffball!

Most of my cravings seem to have dissapeared, except for the icy cold milk with chocolate Nesquick, and any other sort of chocolate, which I could eat until the cows come home.:D
Bought 2 maternity bras yesterday at Big W,they were reduced to $10 each...bargain.
Also got a gorgeous maternity top there that was reduced to $15...another bargain!:smiliedance:

How did your u/s go kachow?

Hi All
I'm somewhere around 15 weeks now...(either start or end of...depending if you go by my dates or the scan)

Christmas Day the hormones kicked in...relaxing the ligments and sending my old back injury which has been fine for about 5yrs now crazy. Awful pain in my sacrum and coccx. It comes and goes, and is better if I keep moving....best day has been New Years Day which I spent performing (Belly Dancing) at a festivale. Where as after sitting at work yesterday I couldnt sleep for pain lastnight, and could barely waddle round for the first few hours at work today....but it got better a the day went on. Am seeing a maternity Physio on Monday.

I seem to have put on weight around my ribs and upper abdomen, so I'm kind of a square shape. Still dont have much of a tummy, though some pants are tight and I've been using thebelybelt with some pairs, but it still kinda loose... and is more a comfort thing.

I too have had some bleeding, mostly spotting though..old brown on and off. Was quite heavy last weekend so went and got the hrt listened too..so feeling ok about it. Amazing how many women telling me how they had bleding on and off throughout their pregnancies. So hope your ok too mumkc.

Have been getting up to the loo overnght as well..thought thats not unusual for me...but also finding myself thristy...so guzzling water as well..

Constipation :o also hit after christmas Day. Had to hit the Chemist on Boxing Day... the pharmacist laughed (in a nice way) saying shes remembered it well from her own pregnancy.. Now am geting into the prunes..thankfully my apricots should be ripe in a day or so...so will hopefully be ok for the next few weeks

I don't have any consistant cravings..hmm cold milk maybe. Which is weird as I usually dont like cows milk much but use soy milk.....now cant stand the thought of soy..just want really really cold cows milk. Mostly I'm still not that bothered about food.

The exciting news today is I think I felt the baby move... lastnight I was driving and thought at first it was just vibrations..and maybe tightening or something. But today a few times have felt kind of like a muscle contraction..but not...like something turning over in my lower abdo.:yelclap:

C38 - congrats on the moving bub. I am still not sure if I've felt it or not yet but people keep on telling me that I will know as soon as I feel it so it makes me think I haven't felt it yet. To me it felt like gas bubbles but right at the front of my tummy rather than up the back IYKWIM?

To both ladies who have mentioned bleeding today - I had a friend staying with me until today and she bled on and off through her first PG and is now bleeding on and off through this one. She is currently 10 wks via IVF and is pretty cool with it as long as it doesn't come with any pains. I remember reading somewhere that it is something like 1 in 3 or 1 in 4 women experience bleeding at some stage so not uncommon at all.

I also got a little bit of constipation too but the worst thing for me was the fact that I couldn't strain my stomach muscles at all. I feel like they are stretched to the max and can't use them at all. I was getting out of bed today and coughed at the same time felt like I'd pulled a muscle. It only gets worse, doesn't it?

I've gotta say that I love that we are chatting more. I love to hear things about other people going through the same thing.

My friend write me a list today which was a wonderful help. It contained everything I will need to have before bub arrives. Like singlets, dummies, wipes, nappy cream, she recommended a clip for the dummy so that I am not picking it up off the floor all the time. It's all common sense stuff but great to have someone write a list like that for me. She said to get one thing each time I go grocery shopping and then I won't feel it so much on the pocket. It's a good idea. Once I'm settled after we move I am going to get started. I also told DH today that I want to know what I'm having before I do any of that. If it's a girl I want to buy pink and a boy, blue, etc. His only compromise is possibly me finding out and not being allowed to tell anyone. I told him I could handle that but I lied. I am the worst person to keep a secret. Then again... maybe I can tell you guys and get it out of my system! He he he..

Well off to bed now. Sleep tight all and take care.

I'm not sure if anyone else has noticed this or not yet but tonight I was lying on my bed applying my CocoButter when I noticed my stomach has a pulse. It beats at the same rate as my own heart so I know it's not the baby but most probably my own blood being pumped around my body. It was just really freaky. If I stayed as still as possible and concentrated, I could actually SEE IT pulsating. It was wierd. Just thought I'd share to see if anyone else has noticed that. Let me know!

Hi

I have some very sad news. Yesturday i went for my scan and my little angel had no heartbeat. The doc estimates at he/she died around 3 weeks ago. I am currently 18 weeks and my baby only measured 15 weeks, but still no heartbeat.

After waiting in the waiting room of RBWH for 4 hours without being seen then being told I had to wait another 4 hrs to be seen we went to the Wesley hospital where they were wonderful. I am going back to see my Gyno today some time for the next step.

I have had no symptons what so ever, no bleeding no pain nothing. i swear I have felt movement in the past 3 weeks, but now think its just my imagination.

Im sorry to dampen the thread with this news but I couldnt sleep and needed to get it out.

Thanks

Kachow, so sorry to hear of your loss. I also had a missed miscarriage about 5 yrs ago where they couldn't detect a heartbeat and it had stopped growing several weeks previously. It is really hard trying to know what went wrong or why it happened - I don't know what to say except don't blame yourself or feel guilty. It seems like such a random thing. Best wishes and thoughts for you right now. I hope you don't find it too painful for us to continue in this thread with our progress. It must be hard to hear what everyone else is experiencing with your situation .... let us know how you are going if you feel like it._______________________________________________ ______________________________________ I just had my first appointment at the hospital. The midwife was great, she gave me a lot of info. Now I have to book in for the 18-20 week scan and perhaps the triple maternal blood test. I'm not sure about the blood test as the last one cost me $100 and the results of that were good - only a 1:14 600 chance of down syndrome. Right now, I still have very little appetite and am just trying to eat small snacks and meals. I've still somehow gained a few kilos in the last few weeks. I'm now around 63.5 up from 59 or 60 the week before christmas. My waist is expanding at the rate of an inch a week! The midwife said I was very "compact and neat" so I figure I don't look that big yet but some friends are now saying there is no mistaking that I am pregnant. I've bought a few maternity things on sale, which was great. I'm wearing a lot of long cotton tunics and the belly belt I have has 3 adjustable sizes so I should get some use out of it. My hips and thighs are also expanding. I am starting free aquanatal classes soon at the hospital because I'm feeling so out of shape and want to be ok for the birth. I'm a bit nervous about the next scan, but also excited about the possibility of finding out the sex!!
[sorry can't indent or put spaces on this computer!!!]

Condolences Stacey . And I’m sorry to hear that the hospital didn’t make things any easier for you.

I've been on a bit of a sugar hit the past week. Christmas and new years really wore me out, and stupidly, i made caramel...

After feeling sorry for myself, feeling sick and getting sugar headaches, i've decided that this weekend is going to be full of fruit, veges and little else.

Scan on Tuesday, Appoint with the midwives on Thurs.

(((((Stacey))))) so sorry to read your news, you are definitely in my thoughts at this time.

Does anyone else feel puffed out and find it hard to breathe? I understand that in the last trimester this may happen as the lungs and diaphragm (sp?) get squashed up, but Im always feeling like Ive just run a marathon - how would I know what THAT feels like!! - and completely puffed out. Might chat to the doc about that one on Tuesday

I'm so sorry for you and your family Kachow :hugs::hugs::hugs:

Reminds us all how precious and fragile our little devloping ones are.

I'm glad everything is ok with you mumKC :fingerscrossed:its the last grey hairs this one gives you.

Kyles72 during pregnancy our blood volume increases making our heart and lungs work harder. It's common to feel short of breath with less activity then it normally takes. I find I'm getting short of breath more easily walking the stairs or during my normal dance classes, but figure some of it is loss of condition as I felt so tired and nauseous those first 12 weeks I didn't do a lot at all. If your feeling breathless a lot of the time then you need to probably see your doctor sooner rather then later to get it checked out. It may be just your body adapting, but you may also have blood pressure or other problems, which may need medication.

Ha, glad to hear I'm not the only one hitting the cold cow juice.Wonder if we have low calcium stores or something ?? here is osteoposis in my family so I am taking a vitamin supp that's got calcuim in it..but maybe my body just wants more..

Last night..(maybe because it was hot and I was a an outdoor concert) I actually missed alcohol for the first time. Just felt like a glass of chilled dry white.... usually the thought or smell of alcohol is one of the things that still makes me feelsick

supermumof3
05-01-2008, 09:20 AM
kyles and c38 i am having breathlessness (is that a real word lol?) and heart palpitations my dr said its prob fine just due to the extra stress on heart by all the extra pumping but i have to wear a heart monitor thing for 24 hours just to check. u should def mention it to dr just in case.
mumck how did your u/s sound go u said everything was fine but anything else to report? do u know the sex yet?

mumkc
05-01-2008, 10:14 AM
supermumf2: u/s was great. saw heartbeat - great relief - and the bubs has long arms and legs now instead of the stumps we saw at the 12 week scan. I guess one of the advantages of scares is that you get to see bubs more often than if you don't have scares!

I am not finding out the sex so didn't ask - i think it is a bit too early anyway? Bubs was VERY active and obviously enjoys his/her exercise as much as me - she was repeatedly reached down and touched her toes as we were watching! (I automatically revert to "she" - wonder if that means anything?) Bubs is growing at exactly the right rate. My ob is soooo fantastic - he was due to do a c/s but squeezed me in and spent about 15 minutes with me. He told me to lay off exercise for a bit (I was doing a very light session at the gym when the bleed started) and to lay with my feet up - I was bored within about 1/2 hour! The things we do for these bundles of joy.

kyles I have had breathlessness (yes, it is a word!) for about 8 weeks now. We have stairs in our house and you should see me when I get to the top of them! I am also starting to feel my ligaments loosen (I am hypermobile anyway, so that may be why). And I LOVE big long glasses of milk.

BTW Just thought I would let you know that I have changed to the A2 milk which is from Jersey cows instead of freesias - apparently kids who are on this milk seem to have a lesser risk of developing Type 1 diabetes.

How is everyone's bump going?

Hi Ladies,

I have not posted on this thread yet but thought I should do so.

Firstly my greatest sympathy to Kachow. I know how hard it is for you and your family. Just make sure you take your time to grieve for your little one.

Okay and even though this now sounds inappropriate. I was wondering if anyone has not felt bubs yet. I am a little anxious cause I have not felt anything yet and I am 17 weeks and 4 days. I am just a little on edge at the moment. Everything was going wrong at this time last pregnancy. I think I felt bubs, the first pregnancy, at 19 weeks. But I thought you were meant to feel it earlier for following pregnancies??? Sorry, anything to make me feel that something is wrong. I am a little on edge.

I have not posted on this thread yet but thought I should do so.

Hello

Im nearly 19weeks & this is my second pregnancy, I understand how you feel, I too felt that way..I have only really started feeling bubs now in the last week(stronger movements) I had my antenatal check up thurs & was anxious to hear the babys heartbeat, everything ok & heartbeat nice & strong, I too thought I would feel stronger movements earlier..I did feel things but not very often.. with DS its hard to remember.
Hope that puts your mind at ease.. you can go have a quick checkup & get doc to listen to heartbeat.. my next scan 17jan.

Just a quick question and a little off the topic, but is anyone going to Westmead Private in Sydney? Just curious if waiting list as that is the most likely scenario for my move... and I know a great OB in the extended family who has done some Gyno stuff for me in the past. Am just a little worried about getting in when we move there in a month or two....

Hi ladies,
thought I'd better drop back to say Hi. Have been on hols for the last week or so.

Not feeling as sick, now 15.5 weeks, but still pretty tired.

Haven't felt any more movements, maybe it wasn't movement I was feeling before?? I guess it is all a bit worrying with what Kachow has had to go through just now.....I have my next antenatal appt in just under 2 weeks, so hope all goes well then. And then another week later have my 19wk scan Yay! Am very excited to find out what we are having.

Anyone else suffering from indigestion? I think I am (have never had it before so not sure) just get really uncomfortable after dinner.

Hope everyone else is doing well

Hi everyone,

Just wanted to let u all know im home from hospital, a little sore but we are doing ok. I had a few complications, a large amount of blood loss during surgery and extremely low blood pressure ( 88/52) but other then that all went well.
Our FS came and saw us this morning just to let us know that things went well with the D&C and we are just waiting for results to come back so it may shed some light as to what happened and we will finally find out if we had a boy or girl.

My DH has finally hit the wall this arvo, crashing on the bed. Hes been so strong through the past 4 days. :hugs:

Thanks to everyone for their support messages through the thread. It means so much to us .

Does anyone just feel like letting others know how they are feeling, even when it's not too bad or not too good?
Well here's how I'm feeling: tired, hungry and stretched from the inside out.
I have a new taste for olives, which I normally can't stand the taste of. DH is stoked because I keep on buying olives where they would not normally hit my shopping list. So I started baking olive and sundried tomato bread at about 7pm tonight. I didn't realise until I was half way through that you need to let it sit for an hour and a half, kneed and then let it sit for another 45 mins again... So it's 9:45pm, I am tired and all I can smell is this bread as it's FINALLY baking in the oven.
I am eating BBQ shapes in the meantime. DH was tired 2 hrs ago but I think he's waiting up for me which is cute.
So there you go - I had to tell SOMEONE.
This stomach feeling is not good. I am having trouble walking up stairs. I need to start taking 1 step at a time rather than 2. When I take 2, I feel like my leg squishes my tummy. :-(

We have had such a bussy time, it's been over 35 :sunshine: degrees most days so DD and I are either at the pool or lake or at home in the air conditioning!

I too have been experiencing and increase in movement. I went to the Drs on Friday for my monthly check up and I said that I hadn't felt any definate movement. The bub must of heard me because not long after I got home, I started feeling definate movements and lots of them.

I'm just on 19 weeks and I woke up with really bad pains this morning (the pains actually woke me). My first thought is that I had hurt the baby because I moved furniture on the weekend on my own (which will not be happening again) but after going to the Drs they have assured me that the pains are a normal part of pregnancy. I was like a whimpering little girl this morning which makes me think how am I going to go in labour? At least my partner was supportive, he quickly told me to "breathe" through it and then went back to sleep (I hope he is much better than that when the time comes).

Has anyone else experienced strong pains that they have needed to "breathe" through?

I have also found that my memory is becoming increasingly worse and I think all common sense is heading out of the window. For example, I got up at 3.30am this morning to check that I had turned the oven off from last night, Not to mention attempting to cook on a stove that I thought I had turned on and hadn't. I am usually pretty switched on when it comes to thinking and things like that but at the moment, I can't remember what I have done from minute to minute.

Ohhh Fluff that's exciting. I've felt a couple of movements but nothing definate - I still have a jelly belly from DD!!:o

Ok please can I whinge about how HOT it is!! I know it's summer but 39 for 4 days is stupid and if it would just go back to being under 35 I will be very happy!!:sunshine::sunshine::sunshine:

I'm trying very hard to drink plenty of water. Any one getting any headaches?? I've had a few this week and don't know if it's my blood pressure or if it's the heat and cause I'm so tired!!

No havent experienced pain like that hun. Ouchy! Is it a crampy type feeling or just an ache??
As for the bad memory - well I have had bad pregnancy brain for ages. In fact, a few days before I tested I almost put the milk in the dishwasher and DH said - You're pregnant!! - :D also the other day I searched the fridge for a bag of grated cheese I KNEW I had cos I'd used it that morning! Couldnt find it. Later I open the freezer to get something out and there is the bag of cheese!

Congrats NoosaMumToBe on managing to stay up that late and cook! Hope you enjoyed the bread.

That's fab your feeling your bub fluffball. I thought I felt something yesterday but it's too soon I think and likely wind - something I seem to be besting DH on lately!

The time between not having morning sickness and not feeling movement is a little weird, sometimes I just don't feel pregnant at all

well i must be cooking a little soccer player as my baby has been booting its little heart out from 12 weeks on. actually i think it may be something to do with the position ive been able to feel this baby was on the left from very very early on. its also super low compared to my other 2 kids anyways. it feels like its so low that its just gonna fall right out (i certainly hope so anyway:D) ive been getting headaches too dehydration i guess. having my scan next tuesday cant even wait. im like a kid at xmas.

Wow, congrats to those who have definite movement. I am not there yet but :fingerscrossed: I will get there soon. Like many others, I think maybe I have felt SOMETHING but not too sure. Am DYING for full on movement though. I am 16 weeks tomorrow (photo shoot day!) and gee the time has flown.

RevenSkies - The bread was (and still is) yummo, thanks! You are moving too? We are selling our house and I am going to start packing up stuff now. Just the stuff we hardly ever use. It'll be easier than doing it all last minute, further along in the PG!

I can also whinge about the weather with everyone else. Where I work it's a huge shop so we although we do have air con, it hardly feels like it does anything with doors open all the time. I felt faint and had to sit down this morning. I walked into work feeling like my arm pits were stuck to my arms I was already so sweaty. I have the feeling when you feel like you get OUT of the shower stinky and sweaty!

To those who get headaches, drink lots of water. I took my first Panadol the other day. I had really bad ear pains all day, went to Dr and she said there was nothing wrong with me. Must have been sore neck interfering with my ear drum. Man it killed and I've been trying not to take ANY kind of medication, even Panadol but couldn't hold out that day and took just one. It did the trick.

I can go on for days about my pregnancy brain, but the truth is that I have always been a little airy so nothing new to report here!:D Oh OK, here's a good one:

Battery on the car drained flat the other day so when hubby managed to get a big battery charger attached to the car, the only thing I have to do was turn the key. Well can you believe the immobiliser was on?! He he he... He had to call a friend to jump start us as he thought the charger was not working proplery!!! It was just his silly PG wife that was not working properly!

Hope your car's now running fine NoosaMumToBe. Mine is on the blink at the moment and currently driving a little laser with no air con. By the time I get to work I'm fried, but the office is always freezing so I have to wear warm clothes in summer :hair:

I have my next ob appointment tomorrow. My first was at 10 weeks where I had an internal scan as little macca was only 3cm. My proper ultrasound stuff is not till early Feb.

Does the ob do a general scan at each appointment? If so, can you find out the baby's sex at only 15 weeks?

You crack me up Milk_Monkey, but... DEAL! I can't wait to use FETTA in my bread... but not for the next 5 months.... :(

I am feeling much less stressed now. We are being positive that we WILL sell our house and I have booked in with an OB in Sydney (the same person who has delivered both my sister in law's children (6 in total so he's got enough experience in our family alone!). He also said I don't need to book in at the Hill's Private right now so I don't need to stress about that. I am just going to take the chance and NOT book into the one up here as not going to pay "non-refundable" deposit to hospital up here if I am not going to be here for it!

So yay, I (being an organisation freak!) have decided how things are going to happen. I just need to MAKE THE HOUSE SELL NOW! Anyone looking for a nice big house in sunny Noosa?! ;)

I feel much better about it now and can chill a little knowing I won't be stuck when the time comes. I know I can always go public and there's nothing wrong with that but this is the ONLY reason I took out the private health insurance and it'll only cost me $50 per night, so why not try and make sure it can happen, right? Is anyone else going to the Hills Private in Sydney?

Hey, I just realised there are lots of scans happening this month. Why don't we start one of those calendar thingies for the scan dates? That way we can all ask each other how their scan went. I don't know how to start those so I will leave it to someone else...

I was just thinking about how bad I have been with exercising. I was doing yoga at 13 weeks last time and I am 18 weeks and have not done a thing. I really need to get off my bum. My ob asked me if I was doing my pelvic floor and I said no. He was not happy with me, and that was 3 weeks ago. Whoops

How far along is everyone when they go for their 19 week scan?

I will be 1 day off 20 weeks and I am worried that it is too late. What if something is wrong with baby?

Milk_Monkey
07-01-2008, 07:58 PM
Bree27, i wouldnt worry too much about the scan. They say that you should have it between 18 and 22 weeks, so 20weeks shouldnt be a problem really.

As for the exercises, i know how beneficial they are, but i never would have believed it before DS was born. They can prevent so many injuries, and they do wonders for some peoples sex lives. Someone suggested doing it whenever you go to the toilet and wash your hands - which for us pregnant women is often

I'm at work again today but it's Friday for me :smiliedance: and with it going to be 39 for the rest of the week I think I will catch up on some day time tv and chill with the air conditioner on!!

Thanks for your thoughts Birthing Beauty. I hadn't actually thought about Braxton Hicks. I looked into them last night when I got home and it is a possibility. The other option of stretching is plausible too. I guess time will tell.

I have just started to do the pelvic floor exercises and I have to admit that it is hard to remember, I guess the benefit of these little babies is that no one can tell when you are doing them..... It may make my work day go faster  Is there a recommended amount of the exercises that we are meant to do a day?

Anyone else got a pink or blue feeling?

mumofsamuel
08-01-2008, 06:20 PM
I have a pink feeling... but only because I can't imagine myself with a boy. I am just WAY too girly I wouldn't know what to do with it... and don't mention cleaning the "bits"!!! He he he... Just joking. I will be excstatic with a healthy baby as we all would be. My sister has had some possible bad news at 18 weeks and will have to go for further testing so it really makes me realise how luck we all are. My closest friend took many years and several IVf attempts to even fall PG. She is now pregnant again though which is great after only the first attempt this time. Very great news. It just makes you realise you can't take anything for granted.

Daisy Duck - I LOVE Macca's brekky and you're right - it's better than nothing! I am craving BEER and have had the odd sip. Would never have a whole beer but as long as mummy's happy, baby will be too! I do leave it in my mouth for a minute or two to savour the taste - Mmmmmmm!!!

Oh and today is my Friday too - YAY! I think I might hit the beach or pools and see if I still float! :D

After reading your posts a page or so back, I think I get the same "tightenings" as you've been talking about.
And BirthingBeauty - they may be Braxton Hicks. How wierd does it feel?! Wow, a friend just said it's my body getting itself prepared to push a watermelon out of my VG.... Oooohhhh... OUCH!

HI NoosaMumToBe,

I have been having those weird feelings for a few weeks now. Mostly when I am lying flat on my back. I was woken during the night with the pains in my abdomen again. This is the second time in 3 days I have had them. I am not exactly sure what it is that I am describing (but I am really hoping that they are common and nothing to worry about).

The pains I am getting are quite painful. Enough for me to sulk Ouch, Ouch about. They start towards the lower part of my abdomen and then move lower and lower. It feels like cramping but worse then any period pain I may have ever had.

If these are Braxton Hicks, the way I look at it, is that I have longer to practice my breathing techniques before the big day!

MMMM nectarines...I bought some yesterday 'cos they smelt soooo good when I walked past them.I 'm not a big fruit eater, but I can see myself having lots of these.

Has anyone had any leg cramps yet? This morning I stretched and could feel one coming on....I quickly stopped and luckily it went away...phew...
I got them last pregnancy...I can't believe how painful they can be!

I have been pigging out on nectarines! I eat a lot of them, they are sooo good right now. Also, rockmelon, grapes, lychees and cherries. I just had an awful appointment with a rushed GP. The last dr. I saw asked me to get either the triple maternal blood test or a scan around 16 weeks. He knew nothing about the blood test and said it was "too late" anyway to find out about spina bifida etc. He also told me I needed the 18-22 week scan earlier than I had booked it at the hospital (the end of week 20), because I'm having twins and referred me to a place that doesn't bulk bill. Then he poked and prodded really hard all over my uterus. Not going back there!!!

Oh TuttiFrutti I'm sorry - I hate Drs like that. They shouldn't be in that profession if that's their bedside manner. I hope you find a better Dr and avoid that one again!

RavenSkies, each morning when I wake up I stretch and the leg feels like it's going to cramp so I have to stop. I didn't know it was PG related but I get it too.

Emm11e - I have also been woken up by these feelings. Mine are uncomfortable but not painful though but yes, they've only ever happened when I am laying on my back. My problem is that I had back problems for years and I've only just had someone tell me that it's the way I've been sleeping (on my tum). He said to sleep on my back or side and my side is uncomfortable so I like my back. I don't think that's going to last much longer though as that's when these Braxton Hicks come on. I am pretty sure that's what they are because I Googled it and it matched the description perfectly... Ah Dr Google never lets me down! My back is wonderful though!

I have been using Dr Google a lot lately too. I am really glad that others are feeling the affects of Braxton Hicks too. I said to a work mate that I think I am getting them and she said I don't think so, already.... So it's nice to know there are others out there!!!!! I am already finding lying on my back too uncomfortable to sleep, so I sleep on my side. I was told (always the I was told story) that we can't sleep on our backs after a certain amount of time (not sure when) as it can reduce the blood flow and the baby squashes the nerves or something like that.

Ok all I have a confession to make... .The kind of sad but true confessions. I took a sneak peek at January forum. It kind of got me all excited as they were all having their babies and then I thought very scarily that will be us between 5-6 months time!

what a good idea emm11e, I just snuck a peak in at the January 2008 dues too. How exciting :yelclap:

I've just realised that I'll likely be the last of all of us to go, being due 30 June :(. DH has strictly advised me to keep my legs closed until 1 July so we get the increased baby bonus .

InGi hope your scan went well.

Emm11e - I heard the same thing about lying on our backs too. Also, according to Dr Google, Braxton Hicks can start "earlier than half way", and we are almost half way so don't listen to anyone who tells you otherwise. Everyone is different, aren't they?

k8y - I, being due on 26th am also holding my knees together for the higher baby bonus but we'll see, eh?!

And I've peeked at all of the other due in forums. I've even peeked back each month to those who have just gotten their BFP's, remembering back to when it was us! Lame, I know!

Hey, is anyone having really bad pains in their... ??? ... (can't find abbreviation for it so here goes....) nipples? I've had them today... not good... :-(

I've been getting braxton hicks too. Not often but especially when I have been rushing about and busy. With DS I only noticed it later on.
Braxton Hicks actually start at 6 weeks... but you just dont feel it. So as everyone is different its quite normal so feel it at different times.
Also I think because most people think its way too early to be feeling it they put it down to something else.

I've been getting sharp pains in my (.)(.)s for a couple weeks now. They seem to be calming down now though.

Not much else to report on this end. Is anyone else still feeling exhausted all the time?? I just cant seem to get enough sleep.

Is anyone else feeling frustrated like this? :crying:lol
On a good note i had my scan today which went really well everything is looking good and as it should be! :yelclap:The bub was moving around so much, the lady really started feeling sorry for me! She said it looks like it will be a baby that "will keep me on my toes" lol If thats the case hope i have more energy when its born!!

We're both hoping to go over due date NoosaMumToBe :fingerscrossed: every little bit helps

Fluffball I am still exhausted all the time. I've been going to bed around 8 - 9pm every night and not getting out of bed until 7am and still it doesn't seem enough!

InGi great to hear everything is coming along nicely with bub. I had a scan on Tuesday and bub wasn't moving, just snoozing same as last scan. I had to get the doc to prod me with the ultrasound stick thingy to wake little macca up - does this mean I'm going to have a lazy baby? hmmm going to take after it's father

Hi Girls,

I am glad that others have looked at the different month forums.... I think that it is pretty exciting.

I'm just putting this out there for others, Has anyone been experiencing really bad hot flushes? The weather is hot today but over the past few days it has been a bit cooler but I will have really hot flushes, like I've got a cold or coming down with one.

I have also been feeling really tired. It may have something to do with the fact that my sleep routine isn't the best at the moment. My partner works nights and I have this inability to sleep properly when he isn't there. By the time I get home after work of an afternoon (I work 9-5 in front of a computer) I am absolutely exhausted. At least you all provide some form of sanity in my day.

Thanks RavenSkies!!! :) 23.....wow, time is going so fast!!!

I too have been having hot flushes Emma. It's so frustrating!!

k8y - when I went for my 13 week scan Lori was having a little snooze, they made me lift up my butt and wiggle my hips so the baby would roll over LOL it was sooooo embarrassing..., however it did work.

I think I have been feeling something but not too sure. It is something I havent felt before but yet I feel it at the top of my belly or at the top left side all the time and I dont know if the baby would be that high already. All I know is that the Dr told me I wouldnt feel much at the front for a while because I have an anterior placenta so until kicks get harder I wont feel it. Can the baby be that high yet?? (sorry for dumb question). I am 17 weeks tomorrow.

Happy Birthday Mandiii20 - but sorry can't help with your question about how high the baby is sitting. I too have a an anterior placenta and haven't felt anything yet. I am now 16 wks + 2 days. It will come soon enough though.

And to the ladies who haven't been sleeping well, I can sympathise. I feel like I can't get comfortable. On my back my stomach feels very heavy and on my sides, my (.)(.)'s get squished together and the arm that's on the bottom of me goes numb very fast... and the osteopath told me not to sleep on my stomach. This morning I got so fed up I slept like a baby on my stomach and now have a sore neck and a bad headache. :banghead:

And yes.... not to mention the toilet breaks. :crying:

Emm11e - I am jealous you work in front of a computer. I did that for years and only 2 years ago went into retail. I now spend my days with customers, some painful, some plain rude, running up and down stairs ALL DAY as 2 out of 3 of our stock rooms are upstairs. To top it off, the shop is so big it's almost impossible to keep it cool. I now have chaffing between the butt cheeks. OUCH! I would KILL to go back to sitting in an air conditioned office all day on my non-chaffed behind!

Wow can't believe how time flies. THis is going much quicker than my first pregnancy.

Already 17 wks and my scan is on the 24th. Not going to find out the sex so going to be a surprise.

Now that the new year is here I'm definitely in baby mode now.

We need to find a house first......so frustrating! We've been looking for ages so hopefully we find something in the next 2 months so that we can settle & move before bubs arrives (and not too close thanks! Don't fancy packing boxes & moving when I'm 36 weeks pregnant!!)

So please send your "find a house" angels my way!

Firstly though we're heading to Fiji on the 9th Feb so should be great. Taking Isabella on her first holiday & only with just the two of us. Have to start organising her 1st birthday too in a few weeks - should be fun!

So sorry for no personals in this - haven't posted in a while & just thought I'd update where I'm at before reading through to see how everyone is travelling.

I forget I'm pregnant half the time as tummy is growing but I'm not overly tired (yet) and no m/s anymore. Isabella is sleeping like a champion at night so getting good sleep apart from the dreams and randomly thinking of baby names in the middle of the night.

We need to start looking at double prams soon and will also need a second cot - feels like groundhog day as we were only doing all this just over a year ago! I was HUGE by this point though as she was born on the 31st Jan.

Anyway sorry for the long post -just fun to blab about what's going on in baby land!

Hope all is well with everyone - can't wait for our scan! See ob tomorrow so will see a little one.

xx Sharyn

:iagree: emm11e. I didn't realise how lucky I had it sitting here in air con comfort at a desk all day long. I shall definitely count my blessings  I hope you're able to put your feet up now and then NoosaMumToBe.

A good idea for anyone else who does work in an office - I unscrewed the back rest off a spare office chair and rolled the chair under my desk so that I can take off my shoes and put my feet up when they feel a little bit swollen.

That is a great idea. I have a spare box under my feet. so it's shoes off and up! I'm not sure there is enough pace under my desk for a chair though. I am lucky enough to be able to work on a laptop all day. My desk is quite large and instead of having to reach to type I have the luxury of being able to bring the computer towards me and then sit back in my chair.

hehe.

I hate working in an office sometimes. Yeah the air conditioning is great, but I have been getting a really sore back and neck from sitting down. Even though I do get up and run around like a chicken with its head cut off, my back does hurt from being in front of a computer. not looking forward to it when I am HEAVILY pregnant. I guess it is a loose/loose situation. Get sore back and neck if you work in an office all day, get sore back, legs and feet if you work on your feet all day! No good

NOW, sorry for this, but totally unbaby and pregnancy related, I have to tell you about my frustrating day with stupid mechanic people!! I took my car to Auto Cool to get the air conditioning looked at early this morning. So I asked if they could just look at it, car only 3 years old yet air conditioner is not working, could they please check to see what could be wrong. They said ok, could I leave car for a few hours whilst they have a look. I said would the quote cost anything. They said no. So that was 10 am. Then at 3 pm I called to ask what was happening with my car and they said, its all fixed, just needed to be regassed! OMG I was sooooooooooo cranky! I didnt tell them to fix it! I didnt have the money, I dont get paid till next week! So it was only $110.00 but I just paid $780 for rego the day before! So lucky my mother lent me the money. But still, they dont Friggen Listen! I was fuming! I might be over reacting, but hmmm, made me cranky.

Sorry for long post, just had to vent my frustration at stupid mechanic, auto cool people! Stupid little Sh!ts....!

Just have to agree with everyone whos feeling tired at the moment - Im totally EXHAUSTED!!! Its a really deep exhaustion too, like Ive just completed a triathalon. On my feet all day at work too (in a bank), which doesnt help. The trips to the loo in the middle of the hot night dont help either!!

Ah well, Id rather be preganant and going through all this than not be pregnant and not experiencing it IYKWIM.

Take care everyone:sunshine:

Hi all. I haven't posted for a while so not up to date with what's going on. I am getting cramps in my calf in the middle of the night or first thing in the morning. My (.)(.) were very annoying, but for all of you who have not bought a maternity bra - DO SO! I thought I had gone up one size - from a C to a D - nuh uh. I have gone up to an E!!!!!! Somebody take them away. But yesterday I got fitted properly for a bra and I have to recommend EVERYONE do so - the relief was amazing. Scary though - the lady fitting me said that I will probably go up another size at 7 months. Hellp!!!!!

I don't have much of a tummy, although I have just outgrown the last couple of pairs of pants that I was fitting into, but I do find it hard to sleep as I am a tummy sleeper. Not tired - in fact I have loads of energy and I'm being told i am "glowing" - but I am sure that will come.

Hope you are all coping with the heat (41 in Adelaide today) and will catch up with what you are all doing soon.

hI EVERYONE
Nice to hear how everyone is.
I'm 17 weeks tomorrow..OMG! Time is flying...bet it doesnt later on!
My tummy has suddenly bloated out. I am even poking out from my upper stomach down ...so I am now kind of square in shape.
I haven't felt any movements since last the fleting ones last thursday.. But that's pretty normal for now I guess.

Constipation remains an issue..think thats actually got more to do with the bloating then the baby.. (eating another apricot)...GRRR

Having difficulty sleeping as well. Waking for drinks and the loo, and just cant get comfy.

My back is feeling a bit better after a trip to a maternity physio. I'd advise the rest of you to see if your hospital offers one. She pointed out the change in my posture and some easy exercises to help correct them. Amazing how much of a difference just a few days of doing them has made.
The chair under the desk idea sounds great!... I'm a nurse so am on my feet most of the time...but the few office days I get I am using a fit ball on and off, to help with the back.

I was full of energy Monday....even went swimming (my NY resolution to try and go 2x week)..but found I have been buggered the rest of the week..and gone back to lazing on the couch after work. I think the lack of sleep..and unusually hot weather for Hobart has a lot to do with this though too. (Birthing beauty... I agree, for the few HOT dys we get a year..no aircon suxs..LOL)

I seems to have become obsessed with modern cloth nappies.... Brought a couple on ebay..now have brought more from some websites....SOMEONE STOP ME!!!!

Am off to Camp Quality this weekend. I volunteer there as a camp nurse and have been every year for about 5yrs... Sad to think it's my last camp...well at least until the weeone is old enough to be left for a weekend.
Looking forward to having fun with the kids, hoping to catch a fish,...but NOT looking forward to how zapped I'm going to be on Monday trying to drag myself to work.
Anyhow am off to think of a costume for the "beach party" themed camp disco on Sat night...."beached whale" perhaps...LOL!:D

c38 - LOL at your moddern cloth nappy purchases. I went and bought about 20 of them before DD1 was born thinking wow what a great idea, this will so so good. I think I used them twice and hated them, so sold them all on ebay! Luckily I got most of my money back as they sell like hotcakes on ebay. Hope you like them though, I think they have improved over the last couple of years.

agree with everyone on the tiredness too, although I think it is more the hot weather than anything.

mostly I am feeling good, not feeling movements, but am only 16.5 weeks. My tummy seems to have shrunk! I think maybe I was mainly bloated before, so hopefully now all tummy will be is baby (yeah, wishful thinking after all those donuts last night LOL)

DeeJay - OMG I am so the same as you. I feel like my tummy has shrunk and all I can think about is bad thoughts that something is wrong!! (I am a bit of a worrywart) I still have a litte bit of a belly, but not as big as it was before.

As for the sleep thing, how embarrassing, but I am on holidays and two days this week I have went to bed at midnight and woke up at 12 noon!! Talk about  And every time I have had about 3 weird and freaky dreams which I cant remember other than that they are weird. So I am not looking forward to going back to work next week as I can see I will have ALOT of trouble waking up at 7:00 to get ready for work :)

You're all so chatty it's hard to keep up! In "the panic free pregnancy" the ob-gyn said it is ok to sleep on your back and it does slow the blood flow to the placenta but it doesn't stop it completely. I am having NO symptoms at all of being pregnant, no soreness, tiredness, cravings, or aches and pains. I'm starting to worry about that a bit! Especially as I still have felt no definite movements but only a few strange sensations on lower left side of abdomen. The Dr. measured my uterus (?) or the height of it and said it was a little bigger than normal. So I do know I'm pregnant with something in there!!!

Re the laying on the back thing, Does anyone think that if you have an anterior placenta, lying on the back would do nothing? My placenta is at the front and quite high. It means I may not feel kicks until a little later than most people but I am hoping my consolation prize is being able to sleep on my back... sounds logical???!!!

Im not sure about that one, but around the 2nd & 3rd trimester you are not meant to sleep on your back anyway, you can~but have to place a wedge(pillow or something) on one side so your slightly tilted.
You prob knew that anyway.

noosa mum i dont think it matters what u do to prevent stretch marks some people get them and some dont. ive had 2 good size babies and done nothing at all to prevent them and not a single stretch mark on my tummy, however during my first preg i gained around 35 kg:( and got stretch marks on my boobs and hips from all the extra weight they do tend to fade and become a lot less noticable over time.

Noosa - ah :hugs:! Just look at your stetchmarks as mummy tattoos. They're worth it when you're holding your little bub.
I use Bio Oil to fend off the stretchies... I didnt get any on my tummy with DS (religiously rubbed it in every day - sometimes twince) but on my boobs... I didnt put the bio oil on and they've got stretchies! Very strange... so not sure if it was the bio oil or just my luck... I'm doing it again this time... so we'll see...

supermumof2 - When I was pregnant with DS and May approached... (he was due 28 June) I got excited thinking I might have my baby soon... By the end of June I was incredibly upset and annoyed that I was still HUGE and swollen. DS didnt turn up till 7 July!!! So this time I am expecting bubs to turn up around DSs birthday... that way I wont be upset when May and June come and go! thats the theory anyway!! :p

Thanks for the sypathy ladies but I kind of suspected the cream thing wouldn't work - if id did, then there would be no such thing as stretch marks. I'm not too fussed as it means I am pregnant and I love being reminded of that. I've wanted this for so long and am not letting anything dampen it for me.
Today I spent a gift voucher I got for my birthday and bought 2 new bikinis with it. My old bikinis (string ones with triangles for the (.)(.)'s looked like porn star ones as they only just covered my nipples! So now I bought size 12 and they are very nice. I can't wait to hit the beach with my new fat belly sticking out in front!
Also, a little off the topic but DH bought me an un-birthday pressie today. My birthday is on Christmas Day so each year he selects a random day and surprises me. So today he got me a charm for my new Pandora bracelet. He is so sweet!
Today I am craving endives. My father in law grows them and my mother in law makes a dressing with white vinegar, olive oil and salt. I hav re-created this and am going to go now and eat the entire bowl!

Heya Noosamumtobe,
I got a new bikini for christmas. I have worn it a few times at the beach with my belly popping out. I love it, especially now when it is clear that I am pregnant. Not just, hmm has she just had a lot of beer the night before!!!
Hit that beach with your new bikinis NMTB, just remember to watch out for that sun. Our skin is more prone to sunburn. Ouchies. (Speaking from experience!!!) :o

Love Bree

Hi all
Just back from weekend at camp and exhausted. Not looking forward to my 7am start tomorrow.

I got sunburnt on my legs which is unusual for me, so I guess the thing about more sensitiv skin is true, so Breeand NM2B watch out in your bikinis!

Where your placenta is has nothing to do with it. The problem with lying on your back is that the weight of your uterus is compressing on your major vessels. The aorta which delivers oxgenated blood to most of your major organs including your uterus, and your inferior venacava, which returns the blood to your heart/lungs for re-oxygenation. both of these vessels run behind he uterus. The result can be that the amount of blood flow to the uterus/placenta is reduced.

Re stretch marks. I don't really believe anything will tuely help. But I have heard some swear re Bio oil... others say taking zinc is good. My preg multivit has zinc, but I havent bothered buying Bio oil

No more movements yet...there waa a lady who is 22 weeks at campQ. She was amazed I'd felt any ,,,she's felt nothing as yet.

ok.off to bed for me... my typing is worsethen usual...lol

C38 - You sound like a Dr! Thanks for the info. That explains a lot.

And thanks for those of you who mentioned sensitive skin. If I actually get a sunny day I might think about sun screen! Over the past month it seems it rains on my 2 days off each week. I get Wed/Thurs off so think of me when you see Noosa pouring down with rain and flooding on the telly YET AGAIN! Oh and when I have work it's hot. Go figure!

Re the sleeping on back thing, I read from 16 weeks it is best to avoid it. But I also read it makes no difference at all at any stage of the pregnancy and won't harm the development of the fetus in the slightest. The reduced blook flow is not a major problem but you may get dizzy when you stand up. The ob-gyn who wrote the book on myths of pregnancy said it is one of the "myths" that have gained credibility without any scientific back up - basically, he said do what you're comfortable with and that it is not an issue. And that if pregnant women weren't meant to be able to sleep on their backs we would have a hump on it!! So, I suppose it's up to how you want to interpret the info. I don't find it comfortable on my back anyway.Hope you all had a good weekend!!

Tuttifruitti - yeah I read that too. The same goes for the belly I read. I looooove sleeping on my belly it is the only way I can get comfortable. There is lots of amniotic fluid cushioning and protecting baby that it wont squash or hurt the baby.

Yay Emm11e! That's a great milestone.

Noosamum: bummer about the stretch marks. Hopefully they will fade over time. Luckily I didn't get any with DD1 so am praying I stay that way with this one!

re: sleeping on back: such a confusing issue isn't it. I love sleeping on my back, and have been putting a pillow under half of my back so I am sort of on an angle. Guess that is ok.

Glad to say, not as tired or nauseaus as before (about time) and am just hanging out till my next u/s when we can find out the sex. Only 21 more sleeps - oh that is sooo long!

Also can't wait to start getting other june mummies results in - should be any day now!

I go for my scan on Friday lunch time and I am praying that the bub will be kind enough to show us if they're a boy or a girl. No doubt I will post as soon as I get back to my desk..... Our families don't want to know the sex, because I am so excited and won't be able to contain myself I'll have to blab to you guys and we'll have to continue referring to the bub as he (we have subconsciously been doing that since our last scan) to family and friends! 4 sleeps to go for me!

Oh btw, I have been meaning to ask you girls, have you notices any hair on your bellies?? (horrible question I know, so embarrassing!)

I was watching TV a couple of days ago with my shirt up and I could see from the light of the TV on my belly blonde hairs sticking up like static. Its ALL over my belly, lots of it! Lucky that it is only blonde!! So horrible! But it is sticking up and out so much. I showed my mum and she laughed at me. Nice mother isnt she. LOL

mandiii20 I noticed the same thing the other day  I showed DH and he thought it was hilarious and has decided it means we're having a boy  although last scan even though we couldn't see any 'bits' he decided it looked like it was a girl...
One of the girls here at work is 28 weeks and she has the same thing too.

Nope I have not had this myself but I hear it's not uncommon for pregnant women to get hairy bellies.

Just wondering - has anyone started to feel really scared and nervous about having a baby? I don't know if it's because I'm anxious about selling the house, moving interstate and finding a place in Sydney all before the baby's born, but tonight I've had this feeling like "Can I really BE a MUM?".
I am 28 years old and sometimes I have to stop and remind myself because in my head I'm about 21 still. Does that sound wierd? Like I'm too young to be married and have a baby. I've been married for 4 years and have been planning this for the past 2 years and am only just now worried I'm not going to be able to do it all. I mean the whole "giving birth" thing terrifies me but there's the whole "Being a mum" thing to follow.
How do people do it? ARGH! :crying:
I am sounding neurotic, eh?...

noosamum - i too was like this with DD i moved interstate when i was 6 months preg and had to find a doc and book into hospital.
this time around i am sh!ting myself thinking how am i going to cope with 2 children, i haven't really thought too much about the birth yet, i just hope it is quick and painless :laughing: who am i kidding?

Hey Noosa. I too worry about that as well. I am only 23 and feel that may be too young for ME to have a baby, but I am still happy that I am doing it. I am just scarred that I wont be any good. I think it's a natural thing for first time mummy's to worry about that sort of thing :)

I was wondering....., where do you first feel the baby?? Is it possible at 17 nearly 18 weeks to feel the baby around top left side of belly?? I have an anterior placenta and was told that it would be a while before I could feel things at the front of my belly because it is like a cushion etc, but is the baby able to poke that high yet??

I thought I felt something a few times around that area, but was baffled as to whether it is possible....?? Any thoughts?

Mandi - I think they say that around 17/18 weeks the top of your uterus is just below your belly button... about the size of a melon I think... hope that helps you in working out if its the bubs moving or not.
I feel mine pretty low down. Usually where my pants are sitting on my belly. If anything presses on my belly it seems to make bubs wriggle. Think its saying 'get out of my space' hahahha

NoosaMumToBe I am petrified. I've read nothing on 'after the baby' just pregnancy books and as none of my friends have babies yet so I haven't learnt anything from them!

I'm worried I will do the wrong thing. I've never yet felt ready to have a baby and am 30 now and still don't feel ready, but thought well I'll likely never feel ready so just take the plunge. Now I think I'd best get started on some parenting books :)

I know exactly how you feel ive started freaking out in the last week or so, not so much about giving birth (although that does scare the hell outta me!) but more about whether i can be a good mother. Im sure we'll all deal with it just fine when it happens - although all the 'horror' stories people tell you doesnt help!!

Mandii20 - i also noticed the hairy belly and like you when i pointed it out to my mum and dp they both just laughed at me :o which was a little embarrassing but dp now thinks my belly is 'cute' - hair and all and has started hugging my belly more than me lol
