Hello,

I've rung my Ob's office but no one is there yet. Not sure if this is the right place for this question either.

I came home yesterday afternoon. Since then I have had quite strong, sharpish pain on my right side of my stomach and, my blood loss has changed and become heavier and red again. In hospital it was mostly a brownish colour after a few days.

Can anyone tell me if this is normal? I'm obviously on the go more now I'm at home but not to the extent where I would have hurt myself.

Regards,
Sam

hard to say, but maybe try the office again when they open which will be soon, and if you cant get hold of anyone maybe you could try calling the hospital where you had the c/s and talk to a midwife or someone. they would be able to tell you whether you need to be checked out or not.
After my c/s my blood loss varied for a few weeks. i think that is normal, was the same after my vaginal delivery.
Goodluck and dont panic too much, you will be able to get hold of someone soon.
And congrats on bubs!:yelclap:

hi mine varied to i think its like your period off and on the thing my gp used to say to worry about if yoou got big gushes all the time (not from when you sit for an hour and stand up) but if you gush through your pad or if there are large clots. I would take it easy as your pain on your side could be saying you are stretching your stitches/staples and you better watch you dont bust them. You should be able to ring the hospital and ask incase your OB is on holidays aswell. The worst things is they will ask you to come in and give them a look. Goodluck:hugs:

If you soak a pad in an hour go to the hospital, thats what i was told.

I'd get it looked at. This happened to me and I had retained products.

Thank for getting back to me. I spoke to the midwife at the hospital who, after a lot of questioning, suggested I was trying to do too much and offered ideas to help minimise the pain. She suggested I buy a pair of those undies that are designed to hold you all in but to buy it two sizes bigger than I would normally buy. This has offered me relief. She also suggested that I place a pad in front of my incision so my underwear would not rub up against it. She said the pain on the right hand side is most likely due to stretched tendons and that I am irritating them even more by what I am doing at home. As for the bleeding, if it doesn't ease or change back to to a browny colour from bright red I have to call again and most likely be checked out. But she really feels that the bleeding becomes worse if I try to do more. Her last piece of advice was to get my mum to come and stay (she was here for a week looking after my son) so mum is here also. Hopefully things will ease up now.

I bought lots of pairs of big cottontail undies as they were cheap at coles and k-mart, no one thinks to warn you about undies rubbing on your incision, it should be part of the paperwork they give you for a c/s!
