View Full Version : very tired
Hi everyone,
I had my dr appointment on tuesday and they confirmed BFP and all my blood tests are fine we are so happy :) . I am 5 weeks and 4 days pg and im feeling really tired and teary all the time at work. ( i've only told a couple of people who i work closely with) I work in a child care centre and at the moment they are not being supportive , i asked for a lower position to lessen the workload for me so i can finish my studies before the baby comes and they told me they might not have a positon for me. I ended up having friday off which i don't think they were too happy with but went to drs and got a medical certificate dr told me to rest, but im glad i had the day off because i was really tired and and slept alot of the day.
i love my job working with children the age group i have are 2.5 to 3 years, but as a teacher in charge there is so much paper work and i do alot of work in my lunch hour and at home.
anyway thanks for listening i didn't expect to feel this way although hb and i are extremely happy that we are having our 1st baby which is due 27th Dec

Hi,
Im sorry your works not more supportive thats hard. I work in a child care centre too and have just recently returned to work after 10 months maternity leave. I work two days a week and my little boy attends there too-his in the nursery and i work with the toddlers and the preschoolers. My boss was so supportive and its great being back at work again, but i can relate with the tired bit. I gave up work at 35 weeks coz I was so exhausted, working with kids can be very stressful.
Hang in there things my turn around :)
Hi. I was doing some temp work at a school when I found out I was pregnant. My boss called me in to his office to offer me another term of temp work. I said that would be great, and I told him I was pregnant. He went quiet, and when I rang him during the holidays to find out what day I was to return to work, he said that he wouldn't be needing me, and the work offer had been retracted!!
Disgusting. I was really mad for a while, and ended up doing a bit of temp work here and there (but nobody wants to hire a pregnant woman it seems). But looking back on it, it was actually good for me physically because it gave me a chance to rest heaps.
So basically what I'm saying is that work really won't seem that important later on when your baby arrives and if they're not supportive now, they probably won't be later. Just let your body rest as much as you can, and let you and your baby be the priority. Take days off when you need them - it really is worth it.
hey hun :)
dont feel alone babe..- with the tired thing - or the teary thing - I remember when I was about 5 weeks preg (am 12 weeks now) - I cried for about 45 mins because I couldn't shut the garage door!!!!!!! - didn't matter what my poor husband said over the phone (at work) - I was distraught--- hormones are frustrating things :)
I'm a full time teacher, and I am just really lucky that my teaching partner and aides are very VERY tolerant!!!! for a few days there I was just sitting on a chair holding a cushion (telling the students to go and talk to other staff!!!! I really wasn't much help at all!!!!!) , my body felt funny (pains and things) and I was scared (paranoia)- undoubtedly you will have days like that ... but remember that really the priority is YOU and YOUR BUBS....
you dont say whether your work position is permenant or not??? if it is - there are definately rules that they HAVE to follow- check them out.... I am entitled to four extra days for dr appointments etc - which is nothing to do with 'sick days' .
remember to have afternoon naps (as soon as you get home!!!!!!)- without them I would have died.. - and enjoy the fact that it is your first bubs and that there aren't other kids to worry about when you get home (other than hubby :) )
otherwise - enjoy the pregnancy!!!!!! before long all us november/ december ladies will be due!!!!!!!!!!
good luck- let us know what happens
lots of huggles

HI Ladies,
I am 25weeks pregnant and I remember all too well what it was like at the beginning, I use to have naps at lunch time in a spare office!!!
And let me tell you that the tears don't stop but you do get better!!!
So rest asured, things do get better, from about 13-15weeks, you will wonder what all the fuss was about!!!
Enjoy it all....
