I thought I would ask here rather than get in trouble for writing in the other thread. Does anybody know if a baby having a risk of down syndrome is a valid and legal reason for a late term termination?
I thought for hospitals(and possible even private clinics) that for a late term termination you had to have a very good medical reason?
Im not sure that something like down syndrome falls into that. Could someone please clear this up for me?
I was under the impression the baby would have to have a severe/life threatening condition for a termination after 18 weeks?
Im not sure on laws in every state though.
I can understand someone 'not being able to cope' with a possibly disabled child but I dont see how this is a valid reason for legal purposes if you know what I mean?
This probably makes no sense at all. My feelings on termination dont come into this at all, I just want to know where the hospitals etc stand legally.
