He is still the childs father even if the father doesn't see the child. they should still pay money to help you with the baby's education and any medical expenses. i think that it is pretty sad that he doesn't want to know his own child but you are entitled to help. centrelink won't give you maximum entitlements if you aren't claiming child support. you can register a claim with child support and let them deal with him if you want. has he even thought about when the child is older they might want to contact their birth father even if it is just to get a full medical history. i mean he did give it half of his genetic makeup. now would be a good time to find out if things like heart disease and high blood pressure things like that run in his family.

Yes. Even if the father has never seen the child he still has the financial and legal obligation to support the child.
It if the father signed over the rights to someone else (adopted out) then no he wouldn't have to pay child support.
Hi k&Hmum
my DS father doesn't want to see him or have any contact with him, yet he still has to pay. He dragged me to get a DNA Test done (even though Riley is his spitting image) and based on the positive result he has to pay thru CSA. Mind you, he's only paid me half of what i should be getting for this month, and I'll be on the phone to CSA as soon as it hits 8.30 (SORRY needed to vent urgently)
So anyway, YES he has to pay. Of course if he did the decide to have the child for a couple of weekends/nights his payments would go down, but if DS Father would want him purly for this reason I would question his intentions
just wondering if anyone knows an answer to this- if the father of the baby gives up all his rights/claim to the child and never see's it does he still have to pay child support?
if the child is adopted (by your new hubby etc) then no he doesnt have to pay any cs. can you elaborate further on the situation like how he is giving up his rights as such?
Oh and I forgot: as long as you didn't get him to sign anything to give up parental rights, you shouldn't have any issues getting paid by CSA!!
I just went thru the whole thing with them, so if you need more info or want a chat, pm me
Cheers
