Since the early weeks of this pregnancy I've been having alot of trouble with my Asthma but usually 2/3 puffs of ventalin and my chest is fine once again.
However this morning its extremely tight, I've taken the maximum dosage alloud and it doesnt seem to have helped at all... This past hour its getting worse and worse...
Should I ring the doctors??
Do you have a preventer? I would ask your doctor about one :) I have seretide though I have not needed it so far so Im not sure if its safe to use  Definately see someone if youre having trouble breathing though.
Don't just ring the Dr - go and see them.
Asthma is something that you don't take chances with.

The maximum dose for ventolin is 6 puffs...My doc had me on a routine of 6 puffs every 5 minutes until my chest had cleared. I now have to take cortisone tablets and seretide twice daily.

Please go and see your doctor asap. If you are having extreme difficulties breathing you should head to your local hospital.
I have asthma also which gets bad sometimes when I am pregnant. My doctor advised me last week that if I need my ventolin more than 3 times a week then I should be on a preventer. So please talk to your doctor about this. Let us know how you go.

I have been having the same problem over the past few weeks. Particularly the last few days. I went up to the hospital to use the ventolin nebuliser and that really helped.
I would definately ring your doctor. You dont want to pain getting any worse, its not good for you or bubs.
Hope it eases off for you soon:hugs:

Its very common for asthma to get worse during pregnancy. I have moderate to severe asthma, but I chose not to use a preventer during pregnancy. I'm now back on Singulair - it is non steroidal and a once daily tablet and it means I hardly ever need to use ventolin, which I would normally use a few times a day. It isn't on the PBS for adults though, so it can be expensive, depending on what sort of pharmacy you go to.
It is definitely important to see your doctor about it though. If you are worried about taking a steroidal preventer while you are pregnant, ask your doctor about non steroidal preventers - there are actually a couple on the PBS, though they don't taste very nice, but you may only need a preventer while you are pregnant and can go off it again after the birth.

You should definitely do something about it immediately - I would go to your local hospital or doctor because it can get worse quickly if you're already at the point your ventolin hasnt helped. I was told with my asthma during pregnancy that I should keep on top of it because if I'm not getting enough oxygen then bubs might not be either.

Well I got worse and my chest was extremely painful...The doctor surgery called me straight down and I saw a Doctor I dont know. Who said it wasnt my asthma at all but I am way too overly stressed by my workload and have to settle down...
HA... hows that possible when Im pregnant, sick, moving house alone, renovating, starting a business and studying.......Study is on hold... but the rest can't really be put off at all...
Oh well... hope to get as much rest as I can... :)

How did they end up treating you if it wasn't asthma?
It definitely sounds like you have a lot on. Please try and take care of yourself and rest and see your regular doctor for advice when you have time. :hugs:

Are you feeling better though? Have your asthma-like symptoms disappeared on their own?
You are obviously someone who likes a challenge and likes to keep busy but if there's one thing I learned when I was pregnant with DD is that taking care of both of us had to come first. I ended up giving up study (not permanently) and work when I had complications with my pregnancy. I'm not suggesting you do this at all but don't be hard on yourself if you have to give up on one or two things in the short term so you stay healthy and well-rested.

The sharp pains stayed all day long but have finally eased 2nite thankfully...
Hopefully within the next couple of weeks/ month the workload will decrease.. I have decided to hault study... and pay others to help renovate... I still need to move house.. but I will try and rest as much as possible... The business will be up and running by Feb 1st and then I can start a basic routine... and thankfully i'll only be working 4 long days a week instead of 5 or 6 :)

:hugs:I have asthma too,it sucks!!
If I get real bad,I fill a bowl with boiling water, stick a towel over my head and just breath in the steam. So old school-Mum used to make me do it when I was little! But it helps!
Maybe you should have a nice bubble bath and just :chillpill:
