Moving to Adelaide

Hello there Ladies

We are looking at moving to Adelaide to live in the next year from the Gold Coast. Can anyone tell me about any nice or not so nice suburbs. As its hard looking at the Real Estate books when you have no idea about the areas..

I have just recently moved to Adelaide from Central Queensland, and live at Oakden (nrth east adelaide). I really like it here.It's a great little suberb, and feels safe and it has lots of friendly people. I can't really suggest any other places to live cause I don't know the area. Just wanted to say though hope everything goes well planning your move.....We didn't have a chance to check the place out before we moved here which was a bit scarey - but we found our rental property through www.realestate.com.au - when we found a place we liked we called a friend who was in Adelaide to go and check it out for us. Made sure they knew what we were looking for. Sorry I can't be much help.

Perhaps have a look at places to rent or buy (not sure what your plans are) and then if you give us a list of those suburbs we can tell you about them. Might be easier than us going through every suburb of Adelaide, lol.

What sort of things are important to you? Do you want to be close to the beach or in the country. Do you want a large block with room for the kids out the back, or a smaller courtyard low maintenance environment (some suburbs do not have many homes on large blocks, which is why I mention this). Are you looking to be near to public or private schools, what sort of past times does your family pursue, do you need to be near to certain types of transport, etc.

Hmm, thats a hard question!

Depends how far you want to live from the city (if that bothers you at all).

I live in Greenwith and love it, the area has allot of shops and schools and is very green and has lots of parks.

I agree to look up some properties on www.realestate.com.au, put in your $ criteria and also bedroom number etc to scale it down a bit and have a look at the properties it displays.

If you want to live coastal I would recommend anywhere from Glenelg through to Marino. We live in this area and love it. There are plenty of families, shops, schools,parks etc, and of course the beautiful beaches. As others have said it really depends on what type of area would suit you.

I grew up in Adelaide but now live in Perth. I miss Adelaide, lovely place to live :thumbsup:

I grew up and always lived around Mitcham, Hawthorn, Colonel Light Gardens, Lower Mitcham area. And I loved it. Houses are not cheap there but is a few reasonable rentals if you are prepared to look for a bit. The public schools are great around there, close to town, not far from the beach (15mins), great shopping centres and activities for children.

My dad lives in Tranmere, Magill area which is also nice. Really depends on your budget.

There are some not so desirable suburbs, best to drive around suburbs and visit the shopping centres when you arrive, it gives you a general feel for the area. Thats what we did in Perth.

Just got back from holidaying in Queensland! It really depends on what sort of location and price range your looking at. And if you want to be close to the city, country , beach ect.

If you have any suburbs you want to know more about dont hesitate to ask!!

we live is oakden and we love it here... its so friendly close to the city and shopping centres and has some really lovely parks and playgrounds!
Its fantastic for people with kiddies!
