My DD is 8 days old and is on the bottle.sometimes it takes a while for her to burp and i try to keep her upright for 5 min after a feed. she always falls asleep on the bottle and when i put her to bed she brings up her milk within minutes. is this reflux and how can i prevent this from happening. i was once told a while ago that they raised the head of the cot to keep them upright. is this true? thanks :)

I always made sure that I got all of DS wind up otherwise he would be screaming with a belly-ache within the hour.

I have heard about raising one end of the mattress to held with reflux/colic but never tried it.

Hope you find a solution...i know how frustrating it can be.

Hi there hun....
Firstly congratulation on your bubba!!!!

Brigning up milk after a feed is quite normal... Is there pain associated with it? How much milk is she bringing up?
There are a mulititude af reasons however as a reflux mum i can say this...
Sit bubs upright for at least 20 minutes...
Elevate the head of her bed slightly using a rolled up blanket..
If the 'brigning up' of the milk is a continuous thing then i would be seeking advice from a health care proffessional to ensure that there is not an intollerence to the formula...
Are her bowel actions frothy, watery... Does bubs suffer from excess wind? these can be signs of an intollerence also...
Although it's hard as all bub's will fall aslepp during their feed. If you lay them upright over your shoulder 'even though asleep' just watch some t.v and rub her back gently and 90% of the time they will burp in thier sleep (in can take a while... perseverence is the key)... It is important to bring up their wind 'if you can' as this will prevent tummy pain...
Also watch for the flow of the bottle... If bub's is a 'hard' sucker she will be taking it in quickly and this can cause milk to be brought back up in full force... When feeding you can try sitting her up a bit more so it's not pouring in so quick or check the teat size, also burp frequently... I burped ds every 30 mls.

If you have any questions or concerns you can PM me... there are also a lot of mums on bubhub with a wealth of knowledge who 'no doubt' will pick up on this thread...

All the best hun... x x:)
