DS has just started falling asleep with a teddy bear (sooo cute!). During the day I leave it in there with him but at night I take it out beforeI go to bed as I'm paranoid he will suffocate. Mind you he is 13 months old and more than capable of moving around and repositioning himself. Do other bubs this age sleep with toys?? am i being too paranoid, should i just leave the teddy in there??

Aoife is 11 months and I have a few teddies and huggy toys in her cot. She plays with them when she wakes up (sometimes) so gives us all a few more precious minutes in bed. She is so mobile and alert that I do not think there is any danger that the toys will cause a problem at this stage.

My DS has been sleeping with his "Zeb" since about 10mths and since christmas he has added "Woofy" aswell. DD also sleept with teddies from about this age and I havent had a problem with either.

My daughter has pretty much always (as soon as she was able to hold herself and move her head around enough) slept with her little teddy. It isnt the prettiest toy, but her great grandmother knitted it for her! She's literally loved him to death! :D

Andrew is the same age and has a few things in his cot as well -as you say, more than capable of either moving away from them, or simply yanking them and throwing them if they feel like it :)

I'm much less paranoid that I "should" be, because he doesn't use a sheet or blanket, so I don't tend to stress about the suffocation factor IYKWIM.

You just gotta do what you are comfortable with doing...

Yep DD has had a teddy (not cuddly with bits that could fall off) in her bed since she was 10 months old. It gives my and DH an extra half an hr in the mornings so it's staying:mad: :p

ds has had toys in his cot since he could move around. I always check on him annyway because of the suffocating worry. He's now 8 months and has started throwing everything over the edge of his cot onto the floor. He still has his mobile and bird thing on the side of the cot.

DD1 was 6 months when she got her little security teddy, and i can't remember taking it off her at night...she just had it all the time. With DD2 i take hers out at night, as she's not the best at rolling yet. I worry it might get caught at her face, as thats where she likes him to be, not actually cuddling him....just rubbing on her face....

my dd has had her piglet in her cot since about 10 months and has grown rather attached to it and just recantly she has also started haveing a blankie it is quite amusing actually as both have to be taken to breakfast and then are forgottne until naptime and they come to lunch and then are forgotten until bed time and if she doesnt have them when she wants them its not pretty it takes alot of sneaking and distracting to get them in the washing machine and then i have to put them in the dryer so theyre ready for when she next wants them:ecomcity: oh sometimes i do go on

We have had a knitted Winnie the Pooh in bubs cot since he started sleeping in it & its been loved to death including death defying feats of base jumping over towards the window LOL he has started to pill from being loved so much hehehe. Just recently a stuffed doggie has been added to the mix which gets leaned on if bubs decides he needs to LOL. He has a hard knock life you see :p

My 3 year old still sleeps with a ruggy. He has had it since he was about 8 or 9 months old. And my 16 month old has a sheet he sleeps with. Its the same one I used to wrap him in. So he has basically always had it in his cot. If he finds it in his room he carries it around everywhere with him. Its so cute.
