View Full Version : Nursery Photos
Alright, me is thinking that we Feb mummas are very slack because the April girls have a functioning nursery thread and we have NOTHING!
So...this thread is for posting pictures of our nurseries and other random baby items. Surely these bubbies of ours must have some place to call their own by now...we don't have much longer to go!
Well I'll make a start...
Feeling a little dissapointed because I don't have a proper 'nursery' as such :( and I'm lacking a little in manchester and general organisation. Having said that, here are a few piccies of some items I've got organised and the cot etc.
In our room:
The cot plus random teddy

The bookcase so far (old teddy is Daddy's that he wanted to give to the baby )

The stuff strewn all over the house:

Pram

Bubby clothes (messy because DH thought it would be funny to mess them up so I could re-fold )

Hopefully by the end of Jan it will be looking a lot more finished and a lot more organised.
Anyone else made a start on their nursery?

Hi there
All your nursery items look very nice! It'll look fantastic when its all done and bubs is in there.
I don't have any pictures but bubs nursery is getting there. The cot is set up as is the basinette and we have most things we need (hand me downs from dd). Today I swapped all the baby stuff from dd's room into bubs so the cupboards are all ready and I just washed and hung out the first load of clothes.
I only need to buy a new cot mattress and a new change table top, wash the rest of the clothes and get some small bits and pieces and its all done. But I'm waiting for the % off sales at department stores for those.
Have fun and take care :)

This makes me feel slack,
we have everything we need, but still in boxes, we are moving houses over the weekend, so as we move we will be putting everything together, and then i will take photos.
MrsO all of your things look so nice and new, my pram, cot, bass and cupboard are all second hand, non the less they are in great condition though. :)

Oh dear! You guys are so organised! I havent done a thing! I should take a pic of my pigsty that is a nursery to show you! DH is on holidays until the 7th at which time I will be 36 weeks so I have told him that we need to have everything ready for bub by then. It's not looking good though...
I love the bassinette too MrsO. It is the same one I really wanted when I was preg with DD but ended up not being able to afford. I saw it in Babyland, Jess. Don't know if you have one of them where you are...
M2M - I think the bassinet was around $250 and like Dormouse said, I'm pretty sure we got it from Babyland. I had wanted the all white version but when we got it home and realised it was calico/white I couldn't be bothered changing it. I think it is quite a classic look and I was happy to spend the money because we'll be able to use it for all our kids.

:D:D Glad you noticed! :D:D
A pink flowery head band did sneak in during a moment of Pumpkin Patch weakness...but that situation has since been rectified
Looking forward to seeing other peoples bubby stuffs...

No nursery here, we cosleep as well. We will have a little corner for bubs stuff in DS1's playroom, but it will just have a boring old change table and chest of drawers with clothes, etc in there, so not really photo-worthy!
We spent thousands on our sons nursery and he only slept in there for 1 week, so we learnt from our mistakes!
But MrsO, I do love your cradle, its beautiful. I have purchased the Amby hammock, but its fairly boring looking

I was going to get an Amby - have heard so many great things about them! They're a bit exy though, so we thought we'd hire one & make sure bubs likes it first...
(oh, if they only made adult sized Amby's :cloud9:)

(oh, if they only made adult sized Amby's :cloud9:)Thats what I reckon ;)
With buying the Amby, I just figured that I have a sister who is TTC at the moment who really wants to try it, so even if my bub doesn't like it, I can pass it on to her. They also have GREAT resale value, so if I don't get the use out of it I can wack it on ebay with not much loss :)
Oh, and cause I am not buying a cot and all that stuff, and already have a great pram, etc.... I don't have much to buy anyhow, so that justified it :)

Yeah, good point! I'd noticed there's a lot of demand for them on ebay.
We have a lovely cot that was donated to us, but it's a bit superfluous ATM, as we'll be co-sleeping too. May I ask Shady, do you do anything special regarding co-sleeping? As in, do you put bub in one of those 'co-sleeping aids', or just have him straight on the bed? And do you use a sleeping bag, or blankets or what? We have a Tetra snuggle bed we thought we could use until we feel a bit more confident, but I'd much prefer to snuggle right up to him!

Lovely pics! Another second bub here so poor little thing gets nothing special - DS didnt move into his own room till 18mnths, and this one will be with us till about then too, then the boys will share a room. This bubs clothes are going in the built-in in DS's room, in our room will be DS's old change table complete with our mix of MC nappies, sposies and EC gear, and we are getting a basinette for bub too as DS is in the cot and we can get one for around $120. That and my ring sling are the only outlays for this bub for us. When we get the basinette I will post a pic.

Now this may seem odd seeing as I have just posted pics of all these things...but we are cosleeping as well  Only initially whilst establishing breastfeeding and running on 5 mins of sleep a week...I imagine bub will be in her cot (which is in our room) at around 4 months. We've got a tetra snuggle bed as well Mahna...although I know what you mean about wanting to snuggle up ;)
What did you do Shady?

Hhmm, your memory gets very short when you have babies! We originally didn't plan to cosleep, DS was going to be in a cradle in my room (DP and I didn't live together for the first 4 months of DS's life), and then go into a cot.
So he started out in the cradle, but usually during a nightfeed I would just bring him into bed with me and he would stay there for the night. Then at about 10 weeks or so, I moved him into his cot in his own room, which didn't feel right to me, but 'they' all kept telling me I should .
He slept in there for less than a week, and one night I woke up thinking he had slept all night, and I was ecstatic until my mother said "gee, your little boy wasn't happy last night, was he?" - I had slept through him crying :(
So that was the end of separate sleeping for us. He slept with me/us full time from that night on, though DP only had a double bed at his house, but a huge room, so when we slept there he slept in the cot next to me.
We never used a tetra/snuggle type bed... and I am pretty sure that SIDS and Kids don't recommend them either. We also never used any blankets or covers for DS, we always just dress him for the weather and heat or cool the room. He mostly hates blankets and sheets, though now at 3.5 he sometimes asks for the doona on, only to kick it off again within half an hour
We also just recently started cuddling in bed, usually we have just laid next to each other if you know what I mean? So DP or I can give him a reassuring pat during the night, but not actually cuddling. He used to like sleeping with a foot on me or something though, just to make sure I was there. Now he likes to spoon, its very cute! :D
I dunno, its hard to remember him being that small, even now, the thought of cosleeping with the new bub makes me a bit nervous and worry I will 'squash it', but I also remember the worry never even crossed my mind back then, I KNEW there was no way I would ever not be conscious of where he was in the bed. We just made sure we followed all the guidelines (firm mattresss, no heavy bedding, no pillows near bubs head, etc), and it never worried either of us that he wouldn't be ok, we both firmly believe he is safer in our bed than he is on his own.
And besides, nothing beats waking up to his little smiling face in the mornings :D. Oh, except maybe when he was younger and we could leave toys between our pillows and he would sit in bed and play for ages before insisting we got up ;)

And sorry, but I gotta say it.... good luck with that :p
On the upside, I had a beautiful $1100 cot that I HAD to have, and after being used for less than a week, I still managed to get $800 for it on ebay almost two years later :D

Aw SC, your DS sounds so bloomin' cute!
And thanks for the rundown. TBH, the Tetra's way too big to fit comfortably on our (Queen size) bed anyway, so we might just use that for visits, day-sleeps etc.
It is a bit nerve wracking when you think of how tiny newborns are, but I'd be more worried about him alone in a cot than next to me at night. I guess we'll just learn as we go!
And sorry, but I gotta say it.... good luck with that :p
 I know, I know!
Just let me live in my denial a bit longer...:p
It all depends on how things go once she's here, whether we like cosleeping, how well it works, etc etc.

the bassinet is in our room, and bubby will then share lorelei's room which is still the same as it was as a nursery except it has a bed in there, here are some pics of it as her nursery, nothing much has changed only that there is a bed and a cot in there now and no toy box it wouldn't fit and we will have to get this bubba's name sign and twinkle toes picture, but it will be more or less the same.

Very nice MrsJ!!!
I love the name sign, I really really want one for my bub but because we can't make up our minds on a name it is going to have to be later on. Still not sure where I'm going to get it from too, I've seen some cute ones on the net which I might try out.
Any more pictures ladies???

like alot of of the non first time mummies my bug not had his room done yet...well he has his sisters old room with kidsline barnyard stuff and stikarounds but no furniture as yet...and boxes of stuff hanging around...so not photo worthy...change table he has inherited from her too...but she only 18 months so still using that!
We had planned to put DD into her cot with side down alongside my side of bed from day dot...only problem was she got so used to being in little plastic cot in hospy she just screamed in cot...so we coslept for a week...I was terrified and DH kept pulling her out from my back as she just snuggled right into it...we ended up getting a phil and teds carrycot that she was in until about 3 months firstly in with us...and then in her cot with side down next to me before she moved onto the thing that stops them from rolling onto tummy in her cot. She wore a grobag from 10lbs and still sleeps at night with one...She moved out of our room about 3 months into her own...
very different to what we had planned...so I winging it a bit with bug...we have the carrycot...and the cot and I just need to buy a new stop rolling onto tummy thing. We will have bug in our room, just not sure in which sleeping apparatus yet :D
