1st Birthday Gift Ideas

Hi There, I'm trying to think of a special gift to give baby Lewie for his first birthday. I'd like it to be something he can keep or has some meaning ie not toys or clothes and I would love to hear from anyone who has some original ideas. Thanks!

Time does go so fast. My little one is 9 months old next week and I am starting to think of something special for his first also. I thought maybe a family photo frame for his room or his own album that he can add his own photos to as he gets older. I know its not something he will appreciate at one but I thought it would be nice and something he can look back on, who was special to him at that age or photos he liked etc.
I am also interested on any ideas from others.

Thanks for your suggestions. A couple of ideas given to me by friends - you can buy a baby coin collection that has a copy of each coin minted for a particular year - it's all packaged up nicely and could even increase in value! Available from coin & stamp dealers or the local mint.

Also thinking of getting a nice painting for his room - in Perth I've found a lady that does cool kids paintings and murals.

Hi I thought I'd let you know that each year (so far) just before my sons birthday I get his handprint on a piece of paper and take a photo of him. I then put the photo and handprint onto his growth chart. A friend gave me a great one for his first birthday where you can insert the photo. I measure him also (ahhhh that's what a growth chart is for!!!!! : :rolleyes:
He is about to turn 4, and the chart looks great already, he loves putting his hand on the prior years handprints and seeing how much he has grown.

i am going to get eliana a book of her first year of life - i saw it on tv & don't know if you can put websites in here - it's called momento album & they use your photos & print & bind it just like a coffee table book - i thought it was something different plus she can keep it forever

The growth chart idea is a good one!!! My Daughter was given a growth chart from her Auntie for Christmas it has her name (Imogen) and date of birth printed on it. You can order these sorts on a website (www.myadventurebooks.com.au). Another great idea for a first birthday is a personalised plate and bowl - there is a place in Adelaide that do gorgouse one's with "Imogen's Plate" or "Imogen's Bowl" on it and there are lots of designs to pick from, if anyone would like the name let me know and I can find it for you.

I have been trying to think of something special for my son's first birthday also. The coin set idea was great - I went to the web site and the mint actually has 'baby' sets for their year of birth. So i purchased on straight away! Thanks!
Also I know Sworovski (eh - however u spell it!) crystal does a baby girl and boy set of a dummy, booties, pram and something else....maybe a good keepsake?
I know of others that have purchased a 'star' for a first birthday too.
