Getting off Zantac

Hi
Has anyone weaned their baby of Zantac?
Can you let me know how you did it?
How old was your bub when you stopped giving it?
Any info would be helpful, thx Rox

I stopped both my kids Zantac when they were about 8/9mths. I just cut back to 1 does a day and if they were still happy after a week I stopped it completly. Both were still throwing up but were happy chuckers:barf:

I did the same thing as Rell except it was when my DS was 7-8months. I just slowly weaned him off it.:thumbsup:

With my first refluxer I slowly weaned DD off Zantac at about 6 months, it did take two goes - the first time I dropped down from 3 to 2 doses a day and symptoms flarred up. I went back up to 3 doses for another month and then tried again, that time there was no flare up so after a week I dropped to 1 dose, then when no flare up I stopped altogether. The chucking was still there but no pain!

With my second refluxer the paed has told me once content for about a month I can stop Zantac. He said that we could just stop altogether and not worry about a gradual weaning off - but that could be because DS is also on Losec still. Haven;t got there yet because haven't been pain free for a month yet!!

I stopped giving Zantac at 7 months because DS got a really bad cold and I was giving him Demazin and didn't want to mix the two. I just didn't starting giving it to him again and he has been fine.
