View Full Version : Breastfeeding over 6 months.. Do you still wear a maternity bra?
I don't I am sick of how saggy my boobs are and the maternity bras make them look worse so I wear a normal bra everyday and it is just easy for him to feed.
Do you still wear them even after 6 months?
I do. I find underwire bras dig in a bit and I really don't want to risk blocked ducts (and therefore mastitis).
You can get some really great, supportive maternity bras. I have a Berlei one that is fantastic.

I am ashamed to admit that I was never able to breastfeed my son but I am still wearing maternity bras that I got while pregnant... he is 18 months old now :o I have found that I can't stand the underwire in normal bras anymore and I keep saying I'll be pregnant soon so it would be a waste of money to go and buy all new bras but that hasn't happened yet
I do and I don't up until she was about 14 months I did and then like you I was like jeez They look bad so bought some fancy ones again I felt great. Lately as I only feed her 3 times a day now I am still wearing the maternity bras as they are comfy as my boobs are growing with this pregnancy.

I did, never stopped :p Actually, I have worn a non maternity bra for ages, was a well fitting one without bones. Then again, my boobs are huge & I can just pull it out the top to feed
Check out fillyboo & bravado for really pretty maternity bra's ;)

Sheesh DS is 15 months and I'm still wearing maternity bras
Underwires get a bit uncomfy still and they just get in the way for me when I'm trying to feed him.
I'm kind of wishing he'd wean soon because my bras are nearly had it and I'm not keen on shelling out $40 a piece for new ones at this stage of the game....
Elle McPherson makes some great maternity bras.. proper ones with thick padding not those horrible ones where you're flopping out all over the place.
Do you have a specialist lingere shop nearby? Ask them for some help.
I used maternity bras the whole time I fed (21 mths with Av) as it was too hard to feed with other bras.

have a look at the bonds range, they have really great support and not too pricey
I have no boobs, so even the bonds, berlei ones ect.. all look horrid on me. And having the tops I can wear being limited because of the straps, I hate that.
What about sports bras? They are okay from what I've heard. Just try to avoid underwire.
I'd look even flatter with a sports bra lol.

I have quite small boobs to (B12), I find the maternity bras from target are really comfy.I hate the feeling of the underwire on others bras & found maternity bras just as supportive. But they are NOT very flattering .
I just ordered a new maternity bra & undie set from HOT MILK for less than 50 dollars online.So...YAY :smiliedance::D:goodvibes:
Cobey only feeds once a day and I still were maternity bras, but then my boobs went up a cup so my old bras don't fit and I haven't had the time/money to go bra shopping... last time I wore a bra with underwire I ended up with mastitis.
I do, I never really thought about not wearing one until now! I did try on a dress yesterday and the only reason I didn't buy it as cos you could see the clasps on the maternity bra :confused:Der, I should have just worn another bra.

I still wear feeding bra's, he's almost 20 months old, and my ginormous bazoonga-tamers cost me almost $100 each  so I'm going to get my money's worth from them ;) I go bra-less at home though.

I did until DS was 13 months or so.
I still do, and HATE them! I have always been worried about blocked ducts, so haven't tried. Once this bub is born and my supply settles down, I think I will splurge on a fancy maternity bra... the hot milk ones look really nice!
I was always an underwire girl myself though, to support the ol' girls.
I haven't breastfed in 12mnths and still wear them :p I have Berlei ones and Bonds ones and they are sooooooooooooooooooooooo comfy I just cant give them up lol.

I've been wearing my daggy old maternity bras since I was about 6m PG with DD & haven't stopped! And DD was only BF for a very short time!
I just find them incredibly comfortable & the ones I have are very supportive. I can't stand my old fancy-schmancy underwire ones now! :o
Well I have never gotten a blocked duct and I only get full if he sleeps through (im talkin like 12hours) I don't wear anything to bed.... I dunno maybe cause of my age I want to be able to feel it and those bras made my boobs like like my grandmothers because they are so incredibly saggy the bras I wear now give the perception that I have nice perky 17 year old boobs! :o

22mths later still bfing and still wearing maternity bras.
My boobs were ruined a long time ago :D
I wore them until Asher weaned and then continued on for a week or so afterwards. Getting back into underwire was an ... experience
Taking them off and having the momentum fling me to the floor is an experience, too
This is such an old thread. Bumped up by a spammer.:p

lol- i have been wearing maternity bras since hmm about July 2005!!! i dont know what a sexy bra looks like these days, oh, and yes, the maternity bras i have now are the same ones as back in July 2005 :o
hmm, might be time to find some new maternity bras and update for the next bub!
I do because my boobs are HUUUGE now and finding normal bras would be near impossible. Mine give me pretty good support and they're not saggy yet lol. In fact they're a little too perky in a bra for my liking . I look down and it feels like my boobs are at my chin:laughing::laughing:. Now that DS is starting to wean:hissy: I might go back to normal bras. But only when I'm 100% sure I cant get him back on the boob!!!
Yes I still wear maternity bras and basically have continuously since January 2005 when I was pregnant with DD1!! My breasts were ample to start with DD and now having been pregnant and breastfeeding twice, they are BIG and gosh needing support something shocking!! I will go back to supportive and underwire bras when DD2 weans, whenever that is - she turns 1 in 2 weeks, but loves the boobie even more than her sister!!

Well you beat me - I've been in the same maternity bras since Jan 2006. Breastfed DD 2.5, (still am) and DS came along in April, so who knows when I'll stop. We're considering number 3 and 4, so maybe not for some time - and don't see the point in going back to regular bras till I'm done completely. And then I'm planning on going and getting some really nice pushups which will make me look like I used to before kids - lol. (It does depress me to look down and see the sagging)
