We had a family do on and we all crammed into the a/c house...
Then we went to mil/fil's for a nice, relaxing cool spa......ahhhhh
How did you survive todays heat?

Went to my sisters house for lunch which had air con...but came home to find that our air con couldn't draw enough power to start up (very old r/c air con)....so boiled in our little hot box with just fans going in the arvo...went for a drive in car which was better...came home and lucky the air con come back to life and we are now sitting in comfort once again!
Kids held up surprisingly well, washed there faces down with a wet cloth a few times but were overall handling the heat pretty well.

It got to 45 where I am!
We do have a really good air con but I was waiting for the power to go out today but thankfully it didnt!
It was pretty cool in the house but DS did seem a bit drained and just slept most of the day.
45 is just way to hot!

We stayed inside all day LOL Were supposed to go to a family friends in the evening but it was still 40 when we were going to leave - and they don't have aircon. So we stayed here because Toran hasn't been handling this heat too well.

We stayed in the air cond house most of the day...Went out to the pub and met family, and then grabbed dinner...Its still so warm:cool:
We stayed inside all day. Bug had the air con on in the lounge, and I used the iced water left over in the esky to fill my water cooler and just moved that around the house with me. Oh and we have gone through about 7 flannels in the past 24 hours, hers using tap water but mine dipped in the esky water lol.
A friend came over for dinner tonight so we sat outside when it cooled down and bug played in her pool, splashing water over all of us to keep us cool.

stayed inside all day in the aircon!! aircon wasnt cooling down the house that much but was still better than being outside! let the kids run around in just nappies all day, but they seemed fine - it was me who was exhausted from it!!!
By passing on the lunch at the MIL's house (no air con, in the hills) and staying at home (air con and pool!).
I am not popular with anyone - except with DS! We had a gorgeous day, just the 2 of us, in and out of the pool and the lovely air cond house.
Justmum you made the right decision - what if your boy had developed heatstroke!
I'm up in the hills and dammit if it didn't get to 45 at least where we were. And evaporative air-conditioning just doesn't cut it when it gets that bad.
I ate less this Christmas than I do on a normal day due to the heat and that fact that everything seemed to be cold meats left out too long.
Lol, thanks Sloaney - I know I made the right decision because Christmas day was a nightmare in the hills with the heat and Boxing day was only going to be worse!
I think everyone understands now, although they didn't when I first made the decision. When DH came back in the afternoon he was so red and sweaty and he said thank god I didn't take DS up there.
I hope you coped OK? Evaporative is OK, provided it isn't humid. Ad Boxing day was a humid one as well as hot.
We slept at dad's house on Christmas night, got up early and took the boys fro a swim before we drove home (45minute drive), spent all day inside with the poor struggling air con then at 5pm we took the boys to the local pools for a swim.
Ugh, I have no idea how I survived, we spent x-mas at the mine site where DP works and it was hot hot hot!!!
We went on a tour and at the top of the pit it was 49(and that was where we were). Standing out in the sun in long sleeve shirt and pants and a 10kg baby strapped to me in his sling...BLEH!!! Jumped straight into the pool when we got back to the village!
Monday Fine. Min 16 Max 33
Tuesday Cloudy periods. Hot. Min 17 Max 35
Wednesday Very hot. Possible shower. Min 21 Max 38
Thursday Very hot. Min 23 Max 39
Hope you are all ready for this week!!!
