14month addicted to drinking empty bottles

my ds2 loves to suck on his bottle long after the milk has gone. like 30 mins later he can still be sucking away. it doesnt seem to cause him gas so is it a problem? he doesnt have a dummy.

sounds like comfort sucking? although hes a little older.... not to encourage using a dummy ( dd has one:)) but maybe he would be better of with a dummy..... or just let him keep sucking an empty bottle:)

thanks for the reply. he had a dummy but went off it at 10 months. once wen he was really sick at about 11 months i tried giving him dummy to comfort him and he refused it completely. but otherwise it did cross my mind. dont want him balloning with gas lol.

Ronan used to do this as he slept- it was funny to watch the bottle slowly slip out of his little mouth, only to be furiously sucked back up again. Really just like a dummy. It didn't bother us, he stopped on his own when he was ready to move on. Now his comfort comes from his teddy and parts of his bedtime routine that never change. Don't worry about it :D
