I have a terrible toothache and have had for a couple of months now, it is my wisdom tooth but have not had the money to remove it.

I was up all nite last nite, and have been living on panamax! so not good for me!!!

So any way i come to work today, and tell my boss bout it, and she has made me ring the dentist. I am going at 3 this arvo to have an OPG xray, then go from there!!!

It is going to cost me at the least $105 for a basic extraction + $30 for happy gas:p

I am sooooo scared. :( I have had one wisdom removed from a different dentist and that was a bad experience. Oh i dont want to go but i know i have to. :crying:

also wow 100 for extraction 30 for happy gas wheres ur dentist lol
i was told thousands for mine in melbourne, but my doctor here on the gold coast hes excellent he referred me to a health community centre in palm beach qld

they are great it was free and they took extra care because they new i was pregnant also rushed me in because of how far along i was getting

ask ur local gp, there is a cheaper if not free option you just have to find it, ask your doctor he or she will know another way if u have already then where in qld are you ?

hello

Im a dental assistant and i used to do extractions every single day..... we do roughly about 15 per day..... its a very routine thing

There really is no need to worry easier said than done i know!!!

Just remeber that they WONT do anything until you feel completly relaxed and numb I can promise you that!!! All you have to do is whack up your hand an they will stop trust me!!

The gas will make you feel very relaxed and giggly hehe

I can promise you that youll be ok!! You have my word as a dental asistant. Ohh and if you feel like you wana hold the dental assisntants and then just do it I never minded having people squeeze the sh$t out of mine lol:rolleyes: and it used to happen ALL day long.

But try not to tense up cause it makes it harder to get the tooth out if ya do!!

Good luck youll be fine:hugs:

sexcbec - there is a free way???? :D i know you can get it done for nothing a wynnum hospital, but you need to be on a health care card (which i dont have) and go on a waiting list :(

Next time i go to the docs i will ask him that question. But for now i have to get it OUT!!!! It is causing me soooooo much pain, its constant not off and on.

I live in Brisbane, Wynnum West, this was the cheapest i found but generally for a basic extraction you pay between $105 - $150 but if it needs surgical removal than that can cost $200- $350. ALso i found that some place dont charge for gas and others charge betweent $20 - $40.

Will definatly try to find a free way cus i need a few others removed and a few fillings ( i think i need a root canal as well )

Thanks for the advice

Hey

I forgot to mention this before but

THERE IS NO WAY YOU CAN GET IT DONE FOR FREE

unless you have a healthcare card! Even then you have to go on a waiting list and the list is 3yrs long!!!!

I used to get people coming in to my work who had tried to pull their own teeth out with pliers cause they were in so much pain  and they couldnt get into the dental clinic or dental hospital cause the waiting list is too long....... then we had to fix all the damage........

So nope no way in unless you have a health care card and even then it would just be a waiting list job....... sorry im also in brisi so i know how it all works!!

Damn, thought it was too good to be true! :D

Well been and got my OPG done. They can do it without having it surgicly removed but he said the bottom left one will need to be sugicaly removed!! arhhhh

Oh well, have to do it. My appointment is at 2.45pm Monday, but she said that if she has a cancellation tommorow they will call me, cus i said that i am living on panadol!

Thanks for all the support

I know how you feel!
There is a good pain medication that i found better for pain relief called Mersyndol,it is for dental pain.

Just think of the relief you will feel as soon as it is out:D

We live in a town of 8000 people where probably 3000 are entitled to healthcare at the government centre clinic. The rest of us have one dentist with a waiting list that is 3 months long, you simply WILL NOT get in. Our only choice is too drive to Darwin 600km round trip to have any chance of being seen.
Ridiculous!

ok, so today is D day! :( I am getting my tooth removed today at 2.45pm! I am so scared i feel sick! :barf: I had a bad weekend with my tooth so i will be glad when it is out and i will be pain free (after a day or too) the hardest thing is not being able to have a smoke or eat for how ever many hours it is afterwards, then even it still hurts. Oh well its for the better!!! Wish me good luck and said some brave vibes my way. :(

I wish you lots of luck... hope everything goes well for you. I know how you feel tho because i need 8 fillings and all 4 wisdom teeth sergically extracted @$250 per tooth.... grrrr:banghead:

I am terrified of dentisit because i have never had to have anything done b4. Now its just a matter of gradually saving the money and getting a tooth done when i have it ... so will be quite a lengthy process.... at least mine arnt constantly paining like yours .

Anyway Hope everything goes well and your tooth with be out soon

Hey......

Dont panic!!! A surgical extractin is not that different to a normal extraction!! Infact you might find it interesting to know that some people find a surgical extraction hurts LESS after than a normal extraction......

I wont tell you how its done UNLESS you want to know i advance......sometimes paitents would get me to tell them what wa going to happen first so they knew what to expect. I found it worked really well- most people who knew were more relaxed and calm!! So if you would like to know just let me know!!

Ohhh well keep us all posted...and if you have any ?'s just let me know!!!

GOOD LUCK...not that youll need it cause youll be fine!!

Ohhh and gargle with salt water heaps- keeps out the infection..... AND NO SMOKING!!!!!! It will make it worse! (Im an ex smoker so i feel your pain)

thanks adele for your support.

Im just getting a normal extraction - not surgical, but still interested in how they do it - cus i might need to get it done to another tooth.

Not long now................................ :o

Hellloooo sorry it has taken me so long to get back to ya!!

Ok well dont freak out ok!!

Basicaly they numb you up like usual and insted of of pulling it out with what look like pliers(they r called forceps) the will drill away parts of the tooth then pull the bits out......simple

With a normal extrction they use i metal thing with a handle(called a lever) then they put it down between your gum and tooth until its under the roots and push up. They will wiggle it all around to loosten it up then theyl use the forceps to pull it out.....

DONT be alarmed if you hear a cracking noise nothing has broken its just the roots seperating from the canals and is COMPLETLY normal!

See its all very simple when you know whats going on!! I can certainly understand why you are scared though(i hate going to the dentist)

Well not long now- GOOD LUCK!!!! :hugs:

Remember the more you tense up and clench the harder it is to get out..... so deep breaths and relaxed thoughts I would reconmend closing your eyes and visualising something you really like- perhaps a cigi lol

Thanks adele, youve been great support! :hugs:

Well its all over!! Yay i survived! :smiliedance: Wasnt as scary as first thought AND i did it WITHOUT gas!!! So proud of myself! :yelclap:

Any way this dentist was soooooo good, didnt hurt me at all (well only when he stuck the needle in the roof of my mouth - ouch) I didnt even have to have my mouth wide open like the last dentist i went too - he was so rough!

I think i was so scared cus of the experience i had the first time (which i now know that was bad) but now i know that it can be done a lot nicer, maybe next time i wont be sooo scared.

My mouth is a little sore, and it is hard to eat cus i cant really open my mouth wide enough to get much in cus it hurts if i do!! Hahahahahaha. But i had the best sleep last nite  free of pain!!! Slept like a log actually. Cant wait till all the pain is gone, but i still have a few more teeth to be fixed up yet or pulled out. ehen i can afford it.

Thanks again for all of you support. Much appreciated.

Hehe see I knew ya could do it:thumbsup:

Well done!!!

Sadly there are dentists out there who are very roungh and arnt very nice- i worked for one 4 2days and then quit......... Nobody talks to me like im a piece of s**t on the ground!!:shame:

Anyway any dentist that goes on and hurts a patient shouldnt be practicing!!! There ARE ways to NOT hurt patients you just have to go gently and be caring-it's not hard!!! Im afraid of the dentist too!!!!

Anyway WELL DONE!!!

Wedding planning is going good, went out today and bought a couple of pieces of card and shimmer paper to make a mock invite, it actually will work out $4.50 dearer to make them rather than buy them in a pad from the newsagents. So for 70 invites it is only going to cost me $24!!!! :D They will not be folded, but I can get 3 invites from one piece of card, with a shimmer overlay with the printing on it.

Have all the things in my head that I need to do and who or what is doing them, just a matter of now going out and paying deposits and so forth. But I think it should go along smoothly, I just hope I don’t miss anything! :o LOL

What about you, how’s the planning going? How long have you and DF been together? .

I just cant wait! We have put it off 3 times so it is actually going to happen this time!!! :smiliedance:

We seem to be fairly close in everything :)
Same age very close together and our oldest is pretty close to

Wedding planning is going pretty well... keep having dreams that i wake up on the wedding day and have nothing organised..... lol... not helping very much
But apart from that i have all the major stuff organised and i am now down to the fiddly bits and fine details.

I am making the invite which it turning out more expensive then i thought but i think it works out to about $2 per invite so not to bad i guess.

My Df and i have been together 4 1/2 yrs. Will have been 5 yrs the weekend b4 the wedding but our aniversary is on a sunday :banghead: so we didnt want to get married then.

Anyhow let me know how your getting on with things and thanks for the birthday wish

Desetress - I dont like that dream either!! :D

Ouch with the invites!! Mine will only cost bout .25 cents per invite, but they are only DL size and not folded or anything so i can get 3 invites out of 1 piece of card, and 3 overlays out of one peice of shimmer paper. Plus i guess when i do the place cards and wishing well notes, it will be maybe another $20 i guess.

We are very close! HEHEHEHE  My and Df will be together for 4 years in April!!! Cant believe it, it has gone soo fast!

I have most of the major things, organised at least:
- my aunty is doing the dj for nothing,
- we have our cars organised (free)
- got reception venue and ceremony site (at work for only $150 for room hire, lawn area free, cus I work there),
- found my dress just need to layby it before april,
- have booked a celebrant and photographer, but still have to meet them,
- making the invites next week cus I have a week off.
- Bridesmaids have their dresses, borrowing flower girl dresses from friends,
- know where I am getting my silk flowers from, I will go down there next week.
- We are getting our cake made by a friend so I need to show her what I want,
- have been meeting with a hairdresser, I have no idea of what I want

Thats all i can think of at them moment, so i really still have a lot to do! and i am runny out of time. I think once i start doing something i will feel much better. But other than that, i cant wait. DF has never seen me in a dress so i cant wait to see his face!!!
