View Full Version : Looking for a good stroller....Any recommendations?
The pram is just getting too cumbersome to lug around and Ava isn't really fussed on it (me neither actually)
I like the idea of a lay down stroller perhaps with an activity bar.
Having never used a stroller I am hoping to hear what to look for in a good stroller and what features you think are best to have.
Thanks in advance,
Hi JustC
We bought a Steelcraft Phoenix and I'm loving it.
The things I was looking for were:
- sun shade
- recline (it has 5 positions and does fully layback)
- as much room as possible for stuff. It has a handy set of large pockets at the back for all sorts of goodies (honestly, if you could detach it, you wouldn't need a nappy bag) and a really big basket underneath that I've managed to jam 6L of milk and + other groceries in). I found many stollers only had an apology for storage under the seat.
It doesn't have an activity bar, but I find DD2 doesn't miss it. We've had it for almost a year now and it's still performs as new.
Cheers
I have a mountain buggy and then bought a smaller stroller. A valco ultralight urban, i think it's called. It has everything i need, lays back, big basket and very light. This was my main priority as i needed it for buses etc. DD does slide down a bit in it and i find the steering not that great. But it's still ok.
If i had my time over - i would go for a maclaren stroller. I think they're great. :yelclap:

We just brought this stroller too and it is great! :yelclap:
I had to get rid of my three wheeler, i busted up me knee and it was too heavy to lug around. Anyway, we bought a babylove stroller off the babies galore website.
It is fantastic too. Suitable for newborn-20kilos and it also has five point recline, with the sunshade and shopping basket.
Good luck with your search. It can take a few times to get it right!

I got a Steelcraft profile and used it from birth til 15months, it cost $100 and has been fine.
But if I had my time again I would have got a MacClaren stroller, the wheels move much better and make a stroller feel so much lighter and easier to use.

I bought one of these this time around and think it's fantastic!
Another couple of bonus' is that it is easy to stear one handed and it folds down quickly and easily.

I just got a maclaren quest a few weeks ago and I love it! It's my 3rd stroller and I have also had 4 prams (bit of an addict lol) it's by far the best stroller. I always said that I wouldn't buy 1 as I couldn't justify spending so much on 1. However I got mine on sale from David jones and it's great. It reclines (not quite to flat but far enough) suitable for 3mnths plus. Comes with a good weather cover and is very light with an attached strap so when folded u can throw it over your shoulder. Has a good size basket. Easy to fold etc. Would highly recommened it. Try looking for them on sale though. I said $150 on mine :-)
I researched alot of strollers a few months ago and it was a toss up between the peg perego
and the mclaren.
I went the Peg Pegero Pliko P3 Classico and I love it! It is easy to steer, reclines right down flat, the handles extend if you or DH are tall, has a great suncover that comes all the way down, its light and it folds down small.
Exy yes but I wont need to buy another one so figure for the use it will get is well worth it.
The only complaint would be the basket under is a little flimsy but I hang my shopping on the handles and have never had it tip over.
Happy shopping!
I absolutely love my maclaren. Have used a steel craft and absolutely frickin hated it after the dream handling of the maclaren.
