Nah Colleen the thread is very slow all the time, everyone is so busy. Hey do you still have MSN? I lost all my contacts a while back, but I have the same address if you want to re-add me Colleen...

Meanwhile, my MIL is arriving NEXT WEEK so I'll be MIA for about 10 days :( so how's about a meet (if not before she comes) the week she leaves to celebrate HAHAHAHAHA

just dropping in on your thread to say i just got back from a week in cairns and absolutely adored it. first time for me. we stayed in palm cove, which was so beautiful, then spent a couple of days in cairns. i really liked the vibe in cairns, as did DH. lots of great restaurants up that way. i loved driving around admiring everyone's garden, and am now determined to grow some bangkok roses.

even though we had to look out for box jelly fish, irikanji (spelling ??) jelly fish, stinging trees and god know what else.....it was still fantastic.

you girls are lucky to live there.

yeah, apparently you can't swim at the beach because of the jellyfish and you can't go into the rain forest because of the stinging trees...you can't go outside becasue its too hot, but other than that, you should be fine......

Hello Ladies!

I posted in the house and garden section but have had no luck so far with answers so thought I might come and try liven this thread back up again lol.

I currently live in Mossman. DH and I will be moving to Cairns some time in April and want to know what areas are the best areas to live and the best public schools (We have 2 DD's that are grades 4 and 7). Also some daycare centres as I would like to put DS1 into one for at least 1 day a week so that he has other kids to interact with other than his little brother and his sisters.......We are looking at staying on the Northern beaches side of Cairns as we will be traveling back to Mossman every weekend for DH to do Archery. If not the Northern side it will be the Southern side around Edmonton.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated and I could do with all the help you all can give me.

Thanks.

Were moving to Bentley Park (between Edmonton and Mt Sheridan) in March. It looks great there. There's a couple of primary aswell as high schools just down ther road, and a new shopping centre has been built down the road and it's only 10 mins away from town.

Can anyone here tell me if there are any coffee groups that meet somewhere in aircon in Cairns, as I agree with the "not so lucky to live here" comments, this summer has been unbearable. I am desperate to meet some mums.

DH 38
DD Amy 18
DS Daniel 11
DS Liam 7.5 months

DH and I went and looked at Edmonton today as there have been quite a few houses that have just been built there and they are pretty close to the schools. We also wanted to have a look how long it took us to get from the Northern side of Cairns to Southern side and it took us about 45 mins and that was with not much traffic on the road.....So we are thinking we might just stick to the Northern side of Cairns, around the Redlynch area and pay a little more in rent there rather than spending that much extra in money for fuel to travel and the time it would take DH to get home from work if we were to live on the South side. We may as well just stay where we are now rather than move South side as it takes about the same time to get to the Northern beaches from here as it does from the Southern side of Cairns.

Hello Ladies

It has been a long while and I am such a slack %$* you have all probably forgotten who I am

Colleen do you own a tv? I can not believe you having twins, CONGRATULATIONS:yelclap:. Finally got your gals I am very happy for you. Hope the birth all goes well for you, it appears you are due any moment so lots of good vibes heading your way.

Kristen if you are still around, hope life is treating you well, I am just starting to feel normal again after having Patrick I needed to get some happy pills to sort me out though:laughing:

Lauren, Jodie, Mandy gawd I haven't spoken to any of you for so long, I must turn up for one of those meets.

If anyone is organising one, let me know I actually might just make it.

To all the new names HELLO hope I get to meet you.

toni79 I live up at Speewah just past Kuranda and it takes me exactly 35 mins to get to the city so theres other options for you besides suburbia. I only say that because coming from Mossman you might enjoy the space up the hill. It takes me exactly 45 mins from Roberts Road, Edmonton to my house in Speewah at rush hour so really its surprising how quick you can get anywhere and no I am not a hoon:p

Caravonica, Lake Placid are nice areas and I have hear that Caravonica State School is quite good not that I know first hand, thats just hearsay.

Goodluck with it

See you ladies sometime

Kirsten

Thanks for that info Kirsten.......Not sure now what we are going to be doing now.....DH knows someone that has a job coming up here soon so might just stick around here if not we will most probably move to Cairns.

We actually went and looked at Redlynch area around the new school and quite like it there so will probably go to that are if we do move to Cairns.....I would like to be close to the school so I am able to go with the boys if the girls have anything on there that is family orientated.....and Redlynch now has up to grade 12 so that is another + for living there.

Hi Ladies,
I meant to come back earlier but forgot all about this thread!
It's the only active Cairns thread i've found so far.

My feet are itchy!! I want to move to Cairns now... but sadly we have to wait till June before we have the finances together to get there. Damn that instant gratification gene hahaha

From what I've researched it looks like we'll be moving to Edmonton/Bentley Park area. The houses are well priced and there seems to be a heap of them.

Cairns itself looks amazing, we can't wait to step off the plane! It will be such an amazing upgrade from Hervey Bay!!

I've been keeping a close eye on the weather up there and have seen you guys have really copped some horribly hot and humid weather! Bring on the NON-summer months!

My son just celebrated his 4th birthday (happybirthday Tarquin) and my daughter will be almost 1 by the time we get there so I will be putting both of them in care. Tarquin is already in day care twice a week. I'm hoping I can get a part time job.

SOOOO excited, can't wait to get there. :smiliedance:

Till next time!!

Okay back in the saddle . Laura Belinda Mann 3010gr( 6 pounds 6) and Isobel Yvonne Mann 3800gr ( 8 pound 4) made there entrance at around 12 pm on Wednesday the 27th of Feb and there are as different as chalk and cheese. And Kirsten don 't need a Tv got me tubes tied this time and who the hell has time for sex anyways LOL. If any if you Ladies do settle in the Edmonton area I can highly recommend Inspirations early learning child care care in Edmonton and Isabella State school at Edmonton both modern and fresh witha very caring approach

CONGRATULATIONS COLLEEN - how clever are you:smiliedance::cloud9:

Very healthy weights for twins you are such a good baby maker:yelclap: I am so happy for you.

:laughing:The tv would be a fine thing if you ever got time to watch it never mind time for sex. Now that you have the girls along with the boys do you even get to go to sleep.

PM me your number and I will come and visit you, I actually have a little time up my sleeve now that Paige is at school. Thats if your up for visitors.

Tarquins mum - the humidty will be gone by June, its the best time of the year here, beautiful one day perfect the next.

Congrats mumof5boys!! So nice that you have your little girls, they are such a joy (until they become teenagers I imagine lol)

Thanks for the recommendation for Inspirations!

Tarquin starts Prep next year so he'll only be in daycare for 6 months really.

It's sooooo much nicer here in the cooler months, so I imagine the same goes fir Cairns. My feet are sooo very itchy! I can't wait to get there!!

Hi Ladies,

Iwould to love to meet some new friends. My name is Sam, and i have two little girls. My DH goes away a bit and I get quite lonely. I am in Redlynch, about 10km north of Cairns. Congratulations Mumof5boys, on the births of your baby girls, I hope you are all well. Tony796, Redlynch is quite lovely. We have been here for about 6 months. There is a woolworths complex here but I can't give u any help wth schools unfortunately.
Cheers.

Hi Girls,

I'm moving from Adelaide to Cairns at the start of May and would love to get to know you all as me and the kids will have no friends!

We will be moving to Kewarra Beach so I'm trying to get my son into the kindy at Trinity but its fully booked at the moment so have a spot for him in Yorkeys Knob.

Funnily enough I tried to call them today and the kindy is closed due to the flooding! Which I'm pretty scared about because In SA we don't actually get much rain! Just dry heat.

Anyway have a great day all...
Bec
