Just wondering how many people ALWAYS use cloth no matter where you go, even if it's away for a holiday to, say, a beachside resort? Or caravan park? Or travelling in motels? Or do most people use disposables when travelling?

I bought a pack of Huggies a couple of weeks ago for the first time in months, as I went to Sydney for a few days. DS got the WORST nappy rash he has had in ages. As soon as he was back in cloth it disappeared almost overnight.

me .. pick me .. :)

I hate sposies now .. and JAck also comes up in a rash (has since a newborn) if I use sposies ..

I just make sure I have access to a laundry of some kind :) I love using cloth when I go to my inlaws etc .. they happily let me use their machine .. (its either that or fill their wheelie bin with stinky nappies ..)

Depends where i go. We went to Singapore for a luxurious holiday in Aug before DD2 came along and there was no way i was doing cloth on a luxury holiday!

If we go to the city and stay with family then i do cloth.

If the power if off for ages then i do sposies cause i can't wash. We had power out for 30 hours last weekend!

I do cloth mostly if we are away although I tried sposies while we were on holidays earlier this year and I couldn't wait to get home and get some of the real-deal's back on him!

We are going bush (real bush with only a drop-loo in the vicinity) for 5 days soon so I have gone halves in a pack of 'sposies with my friend who is also camping with us.
It was a hard decision to make but I could see that trying to wash cloth in a pristine river could create more harm than using sposies.

I do know of a girl who flew to England with a baby and a toddler and did cloth all the way! :yelclap:

I used disposables while still in hospital but after that it was cloth all they way. The nappy bucket could go in the boot of the car and i'd add nappies to it throughout the day then stop at the laundromat in the evening. I'd do that if we had a problem at home like no power or something too. I LOVE CLOTH!!! Although I must say MCN is the way to go, all I had were towelling squares lol.

We are going to QLD next week, but i'm not taking cloth! I simply don't have the room.

I don't use cloth full time as I don't have enough and up until I got my wool covers today I've been using sposies at night. We just got back today after 4 days at a beachside caravan park and I used sposies but Mason got a bit of nappy rash which he never normally gets. I'm guessing it's from the sposies all day and all night when he is now used to cloth all day and sposies only at night. Poor thing, and I felt so guilty for not packing the mcn's. It's just that I didn't have the room or the laundy facilities to wash them. And I only have 10 in total so not enough to last 4 days. Next trip away I will be packing the mcn's!

Havent really been on a holiday since DD was born but when we stayed over at MIL's place whilst she was overseas I took cloth. Not the same thing as travelling though. I had a laundry to use there.

I think the exception for me would be camping. I wouldnt know where to start with washing unless I took them to the laundromatt so would most likely use sposies.

I've never put a single disposible on Oscar it has been cloth every single day since he was born.

Every time I go anywhere he is in cloth. I've lugged my entire stash on aeroplanes, I've even driven 14 days to Darwin using cloth, washing in coin operated machines.

It has never entered my head to use a disposible.

Like Ella, my DD has never had a sposie on her. I use cloth 100% well and truly.

I have only used sposies in hospital (3 in fact)... we have gone away numerous times and used cloth. If I was going away for longer than my stash would last without a wash, I'd consider sposies. I just asked DH and said "well, we wouldn't go away for long enough!".

I find as long as we have access to a washing machine and have a big enough wetbag, there are no issues. :)

We are 100% cloth here.

i used a few sposies in the beginning, but found that she is highly allergic to them all and where ever they touch turns bright red and peels

It's the same with disposable wipes as well (apparently mum said I was exactly the same)

so we HAVE to go cloth and I LOVE IT!!:bee:

i will quote Gremily and say "I use cloth" so disposable is not an issue! NO consideration. I have just came back from a week away, we stayed at a cabin park and I washed once, whih i would have done anyway cos it saves packing as much and also means there isnt a mad rush to wash when you get home. It was so simple, I actually had sposies in the car that a friend gave me and I couldnt bring myself to use them.
I clean the nappy bucket out and pack all the clean nappies in the bucket, and when we get to our destination use it, then it has the dirty ones in it to come home, so doesnt take that much space up anyway.
I was contemplating sposies and i now i wonder why i even had to think about it.

:)

Our washing machine broke during this year. I had about 2-3 weeks where I handwashed clothes and nappies. I was only able to get to a laundromat twice during that time. Using sposies just wasn't an option.
Hell, if our ancestors could handwash nappies, I was sure I would cope! And I did, quite easily in fact (it was more having to handwash clothes that was a pain in the behind!).

Cloth is easy to do, no matter where you go or for how long. You've just got to be willing to give it a go and just be a little more organised with washing them.

Like I've said previously, I do cloth. I don't do disposables. ;)

 not me. We recently went to Perth and having to take enough nappies for 2 kids would have taken up most of the suitcase. I just bought some disposables when I got there.

When I have travelled within Australia, I have always been lucky enough to have access to a washing machine (self contained apartments, staying with relatives, etc), so I have used cloth.

Travelling overseas to stay in a hotel with a laundry service but no washing machines for me to use, I used sposies (for the first time in 2.5 years!).

Yup we ALWAYS use cloth. Camping, travelling on 24 hour car trips interstate, plane trips, away for a few weeks..... always

We use cloth here always no matter what the circumstance is. Just can't bring myself to buy a pack of disposables, the thought of it makes me quiver.

We're going away on Thursday to stay with my brother in Melbourne for 4 days and I have TOLD him that I'll be using his washing machine.

Last year we drove a long way for our holiday, and I used cloth for 2 kids for the week while we were there. I had to use sposies for a couple of days at our first destination when there was no washing machine.

The only other time sposies have been on our children was Lachlan and I flew to QLD for a few days and I took one packet of sposies instead of all his MCN because I had no space to take them. But Scott used colth on Noah the whole time I was gone

We always used cloth when we went away. We were lucky to have access to washing machines on each trip. Av is in cloth at night and we will continue to use cloth when we go away. Cloth Always.

Just went away for four days and used cloth during the day, disposables for the first 3 nights and night nappy for last night (her night nappies are toxic and didn't want them left unwashed for that long).
If driving would def use cloth and find a laundromat if away longer (would have to with three kids anyway or have to cart far too much). If flying by myself with all 3 I'd have to probably work out what to do and do a bit of both I imagine (just from having flown on my own (UK to Oz) with 2 (neither in nappies, though did have to carry a potty for my just 2 year old) I don't know how I'd manage with the luggage for three as it is. But then hate the thought/feel of disposables on her so maybe would manage it somehow.

How do you know they didnt use EC :detective:

For us it depends on where we're going - if no access to a laundry to use my own powder and vinegar rinse, I do use disposables. 3 days in Sydney in a hotel we used sposies, because I don't trust hotel laundry services - they all use really harsh detergents and tumble dry, which I've found doesn't work for really absorbent fabrics like hemp and bamboo and I can't do as good a wash and rinse in the bathtub as I can with a machine :D.

When I'm on holiday I dont use cloth. Why? I'm on holiday! I dont wanna spend my time doing washing!!! (BTW - When I'm on holiday I dont do washing at all hehehe)

I use the Nature BabyCare brand of biodegradable sposies.

EC is most excellent even if you don't have the opportunity to do it full time - it really helps with potty training, even for people who work full time like us. We have known DD's cues for a long time and always reacted to them with appropriate wording to let her know what it was all about, but we just recently bought her a potty and are starting to react to them with action now - she's such a trooper she loves positive reinforcement, so it is great fun for all of us and she's so proud when she gets it right!!
