I just saw the new ad for denim jeans at Kmart & caught myself singing along!

"I pull my blue jeans on, I pull my ol' blue jeans on..."

I knew I had that on a cd someplace, so I went to go find it. I came up with a cd my parents bought me for my birthday a few years back that has some hit songs from 1976 - the year I was born.

Hands up who knows most of these tracks:

1. Devil Woman - Cliff Richard
2. (Shake, Shake, Shake) Shake Your Booty - KC & The Sunshine Band
3. S-S-S Single Bed - Fox
4. Movie Star - Harpo
5. Love Is The Drug - Roxy Music
6. I Hate The Music - John Paul Young
7. Get Up & Boogie - Silver Convention
8. Glass Of Champagne - Sailor
9. A Fifth Of Beethoven - Walter Murphy
*10. Jeans On - David Dundas
11. Moonlight Feels Right - Starbuck
12. Lady Bump - Penny McLean
13. Afternoon Delight - Starland Vocal Band
14. Howzat - Sherbet
15. You Sexy Thing - Hot Chocolate
16. Julie Anne - Kenny
17. Mississippi - Pussycat
18. Only Sixteen - Dr Hook

(Bonus Points if you are now singing 'Howzat' or 'Only Sixteen' to yourself! Double bonus points if you are singing 'Afternoon Delight'!))

What were the hit songs the year you were born? Look them up on the internet if you have to! I'd love to know!!

(Just as a humurous little side-note, my mum's favourite story is that the first song she heard after I was born was the 1976 song of the year - Love Hurts! How ironic!!) :D

I LOVE DR HOOK!!!! (and this thread so far)...:yelclap:

I'm gonna sound really old (but I'm not that old really LOL) but I love 50's and 60's stuff - hehehe! I blame my mum for that as she used to play it in the car ALL the time!

Roy Orbison, Gene Pitney, Elvis, Connie Francis (OMG how bad is this)??? LOL

I love anything retro too... ABBA, Jackson 5, etc

A favourite that I always chuck on for a good old boogie-by-myself :smiliedance: to is "Born To Be Alive" - love it! Wow, I'm gonna have to pull out all my old fav's now LOL!

I'll be checking this thread again - hehehe!:D

Um, I'm sorry, I didn't realise WE HAD THE SAME PARENTS!!! My mum is Gene Pitney's biggest fan ever & my dad is Roy Orbison's (although good ol' Roy does share that honour with Buddy Holly!) As a result I have a love of this music also - particularly the Big O & Buddy Holly.

LOL!!! We must be long lost sisters then!!! Mmmm... That's one I forgot - Buddy Holly - there's just so many that we used to listen to...

Patrick Hernandez??! That's the one!!!

I forgot Air Supply too - they're another fav! Poor AJ (my ds) has no choice in the matter either... He's "goodnight" song is a Roy one - In Dreams and we also sing "Dream" by the Everly Bros... OMG this is sooo bad LOL!!!!:yelclap:

I currently have "The Best of ELO" in my car's cd player... :o

I love Air Supply also - If You Leave Me Now is one of my favourite songs!

I'm quite a Beatles fan (didn't get that from my parents!) and Claire loves to be sung Beatles songs - in particular All My Loving, Yellow Submarine & When I'm Sixty-four

This is kind of turning into a "who likes the oldest/daggiest songs thread" (which is fine too! I love knowing I'm not the only daggy one :D)!!

However I'd still love to know what songs were around the year people were born!

(That's not to say people still shouldn't post what music they grew up on & still love to this day!)

I wonder what songs our children will include in a conversation like this in 30-odd years time?!

When I was in grade 2 we did a concert for our parents and performed to the song "Walk Right In' by Dr Hook. What a groovy teacher we had!

I remember hearing a lot of Boney M when I was really small-Rivers of Babylon, Rasputin, Brown Girl In the Ring.

Not sure of the songs from 1970, just remember hearing these.:smiliedance:
