View Full Version : using a normal pants pattern for wool soakers?
I have a pattern book which has a pattern for baby leggings - will this be ok to use for wool soakers? has anyone else tried doing this?
I find the free patterns from ozebaby to be really confusing cos most of them are american and i don't know what the terms mean...

Yes!!! My mum made my DD some woolly leggings/pants/shorts from 'older' pattern books and they worked really well, I also found that I could use them if they were washed but not even lanolised.

Yep, if you like that style then go for it!
The important bit is that you use 100% wool (I know some say at least 80% but I say 100% :D) in at least 8ply. 8ply will do a light pair, and will work well when lanolised properly. 10 and 12 ply make a more effective nappy cover, better for nights. I have a super-dooper heavy wetter and she has a pair of 16ply shorties! That's ultra-chunky!
Have fun knitting! I am sooo addicted!
