Hi all,

I just have a question and I thought I would start a new thread for it.

What happens during the EPU? Does it have to be done under a general or can it be done using a local anastetic?

I'm curious to hear what others have done re this and if you did it under a local how did you feel during the procedure when they were doing all their stuff?

Thanks and looking forward to your replies.

Hi sharon, I got knocked out cause i didnt want to be awake for that. My husband sat with me the whole time cause i was a little scared. Im pretty sure you can be awake if you want. Hopefully someone who was awake has more info for you!

Take care!!xoxox

Hiya, I had what they call a twilight anaestetic (still half awake) but I was flinching when they inserted the needle (I must be a bit woosy) then I don't remember anything until I was in recovery so they must have knocked me out completely.

Hi Shajake,

I had a general, but it was only very light and I didn't feel too bad at all when I woke up. I wouldn't want to be awake for that part of it!!

Hi Shajake.

I personnaly wanted to sleep as I was afraid of the pain and afraid of moving . I had a general but I was feeling really good when I woke up ... My DH did not want to be there as he was scared ...
The other women that was with me that same day , looked like they had a general as well ..

It really depends on how you feel ...

Take care.

Thanks for all the replies so far...So I'm gathering that the general do it under a general...I thought that with a sedative you kind of get a local so you shouldn't feel any pain...Am I wrong to think that?

I'm just concerned about having to go under a general and wondering what would be better.

Hi Sharon, im not to sure how a sedative would work cause i didnt have one, but from my experience with being asleep all i can tell you is that i didnt feel a thing and i woke up fine. I didnt have any affects from it, but they did say not to drive a car for that day and the day after cause you could be a little drowzy still. I was able to leave the hospital 2 hrs after my egg pick up and i was walking around fine. Iv'e been through 2 EPU's and with both they were fine. Once i got home i just rested. With the first one i didnt suffer any pain after, but with the second one i did. I couldnt walk for a couple of days because i had a lot of eggs taken out and even before the EPU i was having trouble walking. I hope it helps a little, and that i haven't gone on too much. Not long till your appointment Sharon. Im praying so hard for you and im crossing my fingers and toes for you!! Dont forget that we are here for you whenever you need us to chat or need any info! I wanna give you a big gigantic hug!!:hugs: :hugs: :hugs: :hugs:
Take care.xoxoxoxox
