Hi,
Just a question please. (I've already been the centrelink.gov.au and can't find an answer there).
My DH works full time and earns approx $27k, this year I'll earn approx $10k.
Somebody told me that I might be entitled to parenting payment.
Is this Part B (we presently only get base A, approx $88 a f/n) I had no idea early on how much I would be earning to didn't want to give a figure then have to pay money back.
I understand we're entitled to some part B but just wanted to know if anybody knows if I'd be entitled to PP (or have I earned too much this year??). I've never applied for it so don't know.
Can somebody please tell me what parenting payment is ????

go down to estimate FTB
you should be entitled to more on a combined income of $37000 although Part B does cut out after $6000 i think.Even so Part A is more than that:fingerscrossed:

thanks for this link, it's the one I already use.
What I wanted to know is What is Parenting Payment???
Is it different to FTB Part A and FTB Part B
We currently get the minimum FTB Part A but that has been my choice up until now. (didn't know what I'd be earning for the year, but now I do.
Parenting payment is a separate payment for low income earners.
Partner does not get a pension:
For maximum payment the customer's income must be no more than $62 per fortnight AND the partner's income must be no more than $607 per fortnight.
Customer's income reduces rate by 50 cents for each dollar between $62 and $245, and by 70 cents for each dollar above $245, per fortnight.
Partner's income up to $607 per fortnight has no effect. Income over this limit reduces the rate by 70 cents for each extra dollar.
A part payment may be payable if ALL the following conditions are met:
customer's income must be less than $635.71 per fortnight, AND
partner's income must be less than $1128.43 per fortnight, AND
the combined income of the couple must be less than $1242.71

parenting payment is totally diff from ftb a and b. DH and i got it when DD was born but he wasnt working either (he was getting youth allowence).

Different limits apply if the partner receives Youth Allowance or Austudy payment.
You may qualify for Parenting Payment, either as a parent, grandparent or foster carer, where:
you have at least one child aged under 16 who is wholly or substantially in your care and who is in Australia (or temporarily overseas for less than 13 weeks)
your and/or your partner's (if you have one) income and assets are below a certain amount, and
you meet residence requirements.
Weird.....if you didn't work you would get an extra $365 a fortnight!

If you're looking for a parenting payment rate estimator - http://www.centrelink.gov.au/internet/internet.nsf/ea3b9a1335df87bcca2569890008040e/f65ab68a45e44242ca25706d001fb992!OpenDocument and click on "Centrelink rate estimator" and that will estimate your payments for p/p. Df and i are getting $67 p/fortnight and that is with his wage being just over $33k and me being a full time mum.
