Hi there thanks for reading.
Okay well my 3 and a half y.o son is ready to begin the beautiful journey of toilet training
But I'm confused on how I should start him to sit down or stand up?
He prefers standing up but his aim isn't quite pro you know
He thinks sitting down is for girls :p
So can you help me out on this one?
Thanks so much!
Love, Tash

I started my son with sitting down but very quickly realised that standing is sooooo much easier. I used to guide his little penis, as opposed to actually holding it for him, so that the stream met the water in the toilet, not everywhere else. it didn't take him long to start guiding it himself. Once they get the hang of it you'll find it really easy-especially if you're out and about. Just pull the front of the pants down and away he goes!
I never did this but other peolpe suggested putting small things like cat food or peas in the toilet and telling him to aim for them as a way of practising straight shooting.
I really liked the "do it in the garden whenever you need to go technique"... None of my boys have ever sat down and rarely does the youngest girl LOL...
Our Son started sitting down and now stands up. I used to hold him so he knew how to aim then one day he made bubbles in the toilet (sorry TMI) and now we just remind him to make bubbles in the water. The only time he has a problem is occasionally first thing in the morning when he's busting and he forgets to aim. Other than that he's spot on- and I've taught him to put the seat down after:thumbsup:

Yes, even the grown-up males in my house have that problem!
Hi
Ping pong balls in the bowl work well. They wont flush so you don't have to keep putting the in and taking them out.
You can even draw piccies on them to make them more interesting :D .
Good luck

We started with my oldest son sitting, then he wanted to go standing up like daddy lol. I got him a small stool as he still is a bit short and can't reach the toilet, but i found if i stood beind him and kind of guided him he got it really quickly. Now he goes by himself and very rarely misses!!!
I found the easiest way to start with my son was to put his potty in a place where he knew where it was and let him run around with just a shirt and no nappy on, we had a few accidents but he soon figured out where he was supposed to be going! good luck :)
