Come all ye brave and fearless....

Na, not really, we get jokes all the time that its "Deliverance" country up here (not sure what that means because I refuse to watch the film)

Anyway....enough of the dribbling on my behalf...

Steven, Oliver, The Fur Kids and myself would like to invite you to come up to our "home" for a NYE BBQ (and possibly some fireworks...)

Please note that we live 6-9 kilometers (depending which way you drive from) up a gravel road through farmland and forest, so at midnight there are going to be ALOT of animals around!!!

However, if you are prepared to brave the scarey gravel road (not really scarey) we would love to have you and your kidlets join us!

Please let me know if you are coming and I'll PM you our address details and directions.

BYO:

Sleeping bags for the kids (we have very small amount of rooms, but any kidlets who want to bunk down in our bedroom or the lounge for a nap are most welcome too do so!)
Drinkies :laughing:Look forward to having you for dinner... *evil laugh*....:devil6:

Kristy - working new years eve???!!!
Nooooooooo!!!!! LOL!

Well looks like there'll be a few drinkies for me on NYE!
AF turned up last night which I'm a little relieved about (coz now I know she'll be regular) but also quite sad about. Have begun talking to Shane about the slight, overall, possible chances of convincing him to have a 5th, but then I'm also scared about the feeling of wanting 'just one more' never going away . . . . :(

Oh he also brought home some Fireworks, so we will have a few Fireworks, sparklers, and lots of fun! :)

We thought that we might set the fireworks off about 9-930 (as soon as its dark) so that the kidlets can be up to see them. Also that way if anyone wants to head off early they can... :D

Still not sure if we're heading up or not, I think it's going to depend on how tired the kids are - they're having one late night after another and we're still pretty tired ourselves.

On a brighter note - Alex slept through 12 hours last night for the first time ever! About bl00dy time!

Hokey Pokey
27-12-2007, 13:22
Oh well done Alex!:yelclap:

Mischief
27-12-2007, 15:40
Anna - YAY for Alex! Why dont you just head up for dinner, then play it bye ear. I'd like Oliver to see the fireworks (showers) so we will set them off as soon as its dark. That way he can still have a decent nights sleep (he usually goes down at 7!!!).

Okey dokey, so who is coming? I need to buy bread and stuff...! :D

Also here are the directions...

2k up the dirt road, past the 20th pothole, there is a forked tree on the left hand side of the road, go past that for 6 stumps, once you reach the 6th stump turn left at the dam and travel a furture 3k along the grass track till you reach the black stump with a possum family in it.

Na... Not really... LOL I'll PM REAL directions once I know who is coming.. LOL

Hey girls - how'd your NYE go?!!

Some friends of ours dragged us down the road to Clifton to meet some new people from church who just moved down here from Sydney. I'd met the mum a couple of times at mums group and her daughter and Nicola are in the same class together this year. We had a bbq and the kids watched some fireworks and had sparklers. We ended up staying til 2am which I was so surprised about!

Although it really wasn't the same as meeting up with you guys, I must say it was really nice to meet this new couple and the 10 min drive home was good! :raspberry::laughing:

I hope you all had a wonderful night and Shane and I send our best wishes for a bright and happy 2008 and are both looking forward to catching up for a bbq or something soon!
xoxo

Well since no one except a friend from outside BH turned up, we had a pretty quiet evening....

Oliver and Jaz however loved the fireworks, so it was worth it.

Ohh naughty naughty Kat.

No-one was supposed to set off fire works last night cos of the total fire ban.

Dale got called out last night because of people setting of fire works

Mischief

:raspberry:

Ours were only the Shower type. Very pretty, but not big enough to start a fire. We used the on the driveway so there was nothing for them to catch on anyway. :)

How was your NYE?

Hokey Pokey

I wandered about that too! Guy at work works for the ses and said there was a total ban on all fireworks.. did the ones in town still go off?

kristy_lily
02-01-2008, 13:11
They still had the ones in town because they were done by a professional.

There have been heaps of people charged for having bon fires, lighting fireworks and even having BBQ's going because of the ban.

Dale spent most of the night away because of people not listening to the warnings and still doing it. Because it ban was issued by TFS it was up to the brigades to fine the people. All the police could do was issue warnings.

Moorish
02-01-2008, 13:32
On the radio during the day it said that there was a total fire ban until midnight but you could use fireworks after midnight.

Oh Kristy - how come people were being charged for using their bbq's? Arn't most gas anyway??

Hey Kat, sorry we didnt make it.:(

We didnt arrive home until late Sunday and it has taken us a couple of days to recover from our trip. I seriously feel like I have had jet lag, I wonder if it is possible with such a short flight?

Anyway the Lees were all tucked up in bed when the clock struck 12 and we stayed there until after 10am New Years Day

kristy_lily
02-01-2008, 15:26
Anna - even though most BBQ's are gas the TFS asked people not to use them because of the risk. On a hot day it doesn't take much for the flame on them to jump.

I've read about BBQ's exploding in the heat and also houses burning down due to a gas flame jumping.

Dale's just been called out again because of idiots burning off without a permit
