I have plucked up the courage for the first flight with the twins - now 19 months - we want to go to gelnelg - fly from brisbane - however I have emailed several apartments etc who will not provide cots or no more than one !! One large hotel chain said they had a one cot per room policy - any ideas or suggestions of suitable accomodation as I am looking to book this weekend - also flying virgin blue - qantas or jetstar - any one know if you can take your pram right up to the gate to board - I have 2 of the quicksmart prams that fold down to a 5kg backpack - help please fellow bubhubbers

Not sure about accomodation - sorry, but i do know that they have strollers you can 'borrow' (not sure if there is a charge) and take right up to the gate. If your strollers compy with 'hand luggage' size - you should be able to take them as your carry-on.

I would call the airports individually before you travel to confirm everything, as you might be told one thing on the phone & find it different when you arrive. And with some people (not all!) they might be a bit more helpful when you explain that you have twins - hence the extra pram.

Goodluck with the accomodation - it's pretty poor that they can't help you with more than one cot! I am not familiar witht he area you are going to, but maybe worth trying a website/real estate agent that does holiday accomodation - they might be able to be more helpful.

Gosh that cot thing is ridiculous!! Did you tell them you have twins???
ANyway, with the prams.............I have flown virgin a few times with little ones and found them to be great. You can take your pram to the gate. Just let them know when you are checking in and when you get to the gate . The only pain about doing it is that when you have to go through the metal detectors you have to take the kids out, fold up the prams and put them through on hte conveyor belt thingy. Right royal pain if you ask me...........so I learnt and only did thet the first time.............BUT I didn't have twin toddlers to control or zippy little prams, so it might well be worth it for you!!!

Click on the Holidays tab near the top of this page for a link to a website that specialises in family friendly accomodation.

As the others have said, you can usually take your pram(s) to the gate. If they can't go in the cabin as hand luggage & have to be packed in a baggage compartment, then be very specific with the staff at the gate and let them know that you need them when you get off the plane. Otherwise they may be 'checked' and you won't find them again until you get the rest of your baggage.

Qantas does have strollers for use in the airports, but these can be hard to find sometimes.

Hi

When are you comming?? I have a portacot you can borrow while you are here assuming its not when I am away:D

As for the prams just be warned that when going home Adelaide airport wont let you take your own pram to the gate, they will lend you airport strollers. Something to do with the union and their baggage handlers refusing to handle prams:hair:
