Getting bum cream out of liners/nappies

Ok, what is the trick - how do you get overloaded bum cream out of inserts or nappies? We use mainly hemp and bamboo, but use fleece or microfleece liners, some of which are sewn into the boosters and the occasional DH or MIL overenthused application of papaw cream or calmoseptine has started to affect the absorbency and DD (and thus said boosters and nappies) is only 13mths old, so I'm not ready to chuck them just yet.

Any suggestions? A few drops of dishwashing detergent in the wash? Hot soaking in nappysan? What do I do to get the greasy residue out?

I havn't needed to try it myself, but.......
wash tehm by hand using dishwashing liquid directly onto them and really rub it in. Then a really good rinse obviously!
