My DD has rolled for the first time at 12 weeks and 2 days!!! :yelclap:

When did your baby start rolling and 1) how long after did they learn to roll back to their stomach and 2) how long after did they start crawling?

Just curious as I've been worrying that DD is going to roll over at night and then get upset because she can't get her arm out from under her.

DD rolled at about the same age, give or take a day? lol

The next day she rolled back, kept doing that for a while but hasn't done it as much lately... she likes being on her tummy.

6 months now, still not crawling ... kind of shuffling along...
Was worried about her rolling when in bed, but she never did it in the cot. She started doing it in the mornings on my bed and after I had drifted off I realised I was about to fall out of bed as I kept moving along as she was rolling hehehe
She hasn't been back whilst I'm tired since :p

My DS rolled from laying on his back right over to his belly when he was 14 wks. Can't remember how old he was when he started crawling I'd have to get my videos out.

hi,
As i recall my DS first rolled at 3-4 months and My DD as just started to roll at 13 weeks. It was not long before he could rolled both ways this was about 5 months. He didnt start crawling till he was 8 months of which he crawled backwards for about a month and then one day just took off forwards. Hes now up and walking everywhere at 14 months. I dont recall him having any problems with getting stuck at nighttime he slept all night with out rolling over.

DS first rolled at 11 days but only did it a few times until he was 16 weeks and then it was only from back to stomach one way. After a few days he rolled both ways and only a few days after that started rolling in his sleep. He's 6 months and gets up on his knees and rocks but doesnt quite crawl yet. But he rolls and pulls himself forward from one end of the lounge room to the other side of it really quickly.

Raleigh first rolled onto her stomach at 6 days old. It scared the bajezus out of me. She learned how to control her rolling onto her stomach at 4 1/2 months old and was crawling at 6 1/2 months of age.

DD1 - rolled @ 4 months, rolled back over about 2 weeks later - never crawled (except on her belly like a caterpillar) but walked at 9 months.

DD2 - rolled @ 5 months, rolled back about a week later, crawled about 4 weeks after she first rolled - still crawling like crazy!!

#1 at 13w, #2 at somewhere around 16-17w, but my neice is 7.5months and only once in a blue moon makes the effort to roll from tummy to back. (Me thinks is something to do with being constricted by mummy still wrapping her)

mummycloud, don't worry at all. i have learnt there is a large range of "normal"

Alice didn't hardly roll at all (maybe once or twice) until 14 months when she really mastered it, and only now at 18 months is she rolling around the place and rolling over in her sleep to sleep on her tummy. She also never crawled and only just started walking a few weeks ago. I think it's 'coz she's more interested in fine motor stuff and in people and because she is so physically big. She just never was interested or very motivated to move much. Now she is running aorund everywhere!!!!!

Brianna was 7wks when she rolled from her tummy to back, and 10 1/2wks when she rolled from back to tummy. Now she just does continual rolls EVERYWHERE! I wish she would stop doing it in bed tho, I hate walking in to check on her and seeing her on her tummy.

She has been trying to crawl for soooo long! She is able to do a commando crawl, she has been doing that for a little while, albeit very slowly, she does move about some. She is now starting to get her knees right up under her and I don't think it will be too long before she is crawling into all those places I don't particularly want her to go :shame: .

lillasmummy - 11Ibs  wowsa, what on Earth did you eat!?! You must have almost split in half down the middle.

alicesmum - Thanks for telling me that, I feel much better now :) He's 6 months and still not rolling and doesn't look like he will for a VERY long time.
Apparanlty I never craweled either, I skiped that and went straight to walking at around 15 months old. I was a chunky baby too ;)

My DS was a late starter... He hadn't rolled at all at 6 months... I was so worried I spoke to Child Health but they weren't concerned because he could sit up and hold his head up.. But at 6 months and 2 weeks he worked it out.. Both ways in 3 days (then all over the house).

2 weeks later we were crawling.

And currently at 8.5 months we are pulling up and "cruising" the furniture.

I have realized the when they start seems to have very little to do with continuing development. Once they work it out, they do it to their own agenda.

Good Luck, and don't worry, make the most of the stationary period!

Yeah Lochie did the accidental roll at about 2wks then back to front at 11wks and hasn't stopped, but he only occasonally (sp?) rolls front to back. And he does the kinda camando crawl back wards now and has been for about a month.

DD started rolling from back to front at about 12 weeks. She didn't roll the other way until she was about 4.5 months old.

She began crawling about 7 months...and now at 8.5 months she's cruising and trying to climb on everything.

My DD first rolled at 4.5 mths but could roll both ways at 5mths and was sitting very well by then. She has mastered crawling at 7.5mths and is 8mths today!!

Personally I wouldn't be in a hurry for your baby to rolls, crawl etc, as once they are on the move, they won't stay still and you are forever chasing them!! you need sharp reflexes and eyes everywhere!!

DD rolled over from front to back by accident at 5 weeks during tummy/nappy free time :) She was in the middle of our bed (on a wee proof sheet!) when I turned around to pick up one of her toys across the room. I looked back and suddenly realised "Hey! That's not where I left you!"

Bit sad I "missed" it, but I'm sure she'll manage it again before too long

My DS rolled from his stomach to his back at 2 and a half weeks.

The health nurse said it was by accident, but he has been doing it ever since (he's four weeks now) and he seems to know what he's doing! I throws his head to the side and then uses his leg to push himself over.

I'm an extremely proud Mumma and rather than accepting its an accident I think I'll choose to see it as a sign of future genuis!!
