Knowing that there is a certain amount of life in breast milk..
How much of this is killed off from just expressing,
Then what happens when you chill the milk for a period of time.
What about freezing.

I'm couriouse to know if the ebm is still nearly as good as fresh because my bub is fed a lot of ebm.

As far as I know, the actual expressing and chilling of milk doesn't kill off antibodies, but reheating it does - although there are still some live antibodies remaining, especially as you tend not to heat it to boiling point or anything (which would kill off anything live in the milk).

Even if the antibodies weren't active (ie some women need to scald their EBM because of one of the ingredients which starts digesting the milk and turning it into something akin to curds) - there is no denying that EBM is still superior to formula in that its still made for your baby, and not for a baby cow/goat/etc...

HTH :)

hiya

after having a premmie you learn a lot about ebm. it can be frozen up to a year and stored in a fridge for 3 days.
they don't heat it just let it get it to room temp.

it holds the nutrients your baby needs from the first time you express and it is worth more then anything else you can feed them.

From my understanding its actually very close to being just the same.

Close enough to 'just the same' to be the best choice for your situation anyway.

Look nothing beats it fresh from the boob, but EBM would still be amazing compared to the other alternative - Formula.

I was just interested to know.

My baby is a fussy feeder at the brest so I find I pump a lot to feed her out of a bottle.
