Well, it seems I have all the **** going on!! I have high blood pressure and an Anterior Placenta! Grrrr  Nothing can go right for me.

I am told there is nothing harmful about having an anterior placenta, it just means that the placenta is at the front, like a cushion between me and my baby, so I wont feel the kicks as strong or as early, they will be muffled like baby is kicking a pillow. This is my first pregnancy as was really looking forward to feeling something early on :crying:

Sorry, that's my whinge for the day :) Had to share.

Hugs :hugs: Mandi!

With my first pregnancy I didn't feel anything until 21 weeks so don't stress that you might not feel anything early and some cushioning comes in handy when you get those full blown kicks in late pregnancy!!!

Feel free to whinge about anything hun!! I hear you about the blood pressure too. Grrr it sucks!!

I'm not in your birth group but I wanted to reassure you by letting you know that with my first baby I had an anterior placenta and I felt PLENTY of strong kicks and pokes.

This time around I have a posterior placenta and funnily enough don't feel nearly as many kicks or pokes from bubs.

Don't worry too much! You'll get plenty of opportunities to feel your baby! :)

yep i too have an anterior placenta, felt first kicks at about 18 weeks, now 24 weeks and feel plenty of movement, just maybe not has hard as you normally would.
My ob told me it was common not to feel any movement with your first until about 22weeks.

Yep, I've got one too! Trying to look on the bright side - apparently you get sick of being kicked so we won't have to put up withit as long!

They didn't mention my placenta @ 12wk scan? or least i can't remember... so does that mean its not Anterior?? i guess at the 20wk scan i will know.. i never received a disc to view either or scan pictures.

Hi,
The only thing I was told at my scan about the placenta was "See, there's your placenta" and I said "Is it where it's supposed to be?" (as my sis is also pg and hers is Anterior and she was told the same things about kicks, etc but also they may opt for caesarian instead of v birth)... He assured me all was as normal...

But upon checking my scan results it says:
Placenta: Anterior High.

So I guess I need to be welcomed to the club! Bummer. I was looking forward to kicks, etc. I know it's still possible to feel early kicks but less likely, right? Oh well. I will still lie in bed at night trying to concentrate on feeling something!
