DD1 who is nearly 8 months old can now poo in her nappy but not in her potty. It all started when she was about 7 months old and she hadnt gone for a few days. She wouldnt latch on as she was being breastfed so It got me thinking and one day I asked her to do it and she did!!

Little did i know that this process called elimination communication even existed but there u go u learn something knew every day.

Problem is now she will only go in her nappy and not on her potty!
Shes only ever done a number 1 in her potty before...but still shes saved me lots of dirty nappies going when I ask her to as I just roll her mess into the toilet and flush it. Washing nappies has been quite a clean and not so smelly process.

My friends find it so hard to believe that she actually goes when I ask her to. Her signs were usually a lot of wind, after lunch, not latching on.

Now Im wondering how long it will be before she actually does go in her potty! I dont want to sound like im being hard on her or anything.. Im not forcing her...just trying to help the both of us.

Any ideas?

Shes 8 months old????
I didnt even know that babies that age where able to understand what a potty was let alone know what to do on it. My DD has just turned 2 and is in the stage of toilet training (understanding when she needs to go ect).
i dont think you have anything to worry about as she sounds very advanced already, being able to wee on the potty.
Just a question though... does she take herself to the potty (e.g. crawling) or does she let you know somehow to take her??

This was a few weeks back but I popped her on the potty as soon I bought it. I think it would have been after her feed.
She cant even crawl yet. Ill just clarify...she goes on a cloth nappy on the change table when I ask her but I have to ask her and hold her legs. 99% of the time she does what she has to do and usually after a feed...mid morning or when shes refusing to eat. sometimes this could be after a nice bath too.
Its nice for you to say that thats being advanced...some mums consider this as completely normal though.
I guess it is a pretty big thing for a baby to be able to listen to her mummy so I should be very proud of her.
So far shes done poo's in her nappy once since I introduced this as I seem to catch her when she wants to go. She doesnt grunt she just acts a bit suspiciously! It worked this morning again :)
