just wanted to share something with you all..... my DH is a gem

DH and i are planning baby #2 next july (woohoo!!!) and i've made the decision to hire a doula because he works away, and there's a chance he wont make it to the birth in time.

there's other reasons as well - extra support, less intervention etc etc.

i was expecting DH to be VERY wary of having another 'support person' there if he was there too. like it would make him feel redundant. i didnt want him to think someone else was 'taking over' IYKWIM?

so, i approached him very gently about it. explained what a doula was, what they do, how much they cost etc etc. i assured him that it is an EXTRA support for us, not replacing him. then i asked him what he would think of hiring one........ and then came the response:

"that has got to be the best idea you've ever had! lets do it"

you could've knocked me over with a feather!

even my 'traditional' DH can see the positives of hiring a doula, and i didnt even have to do much convincing!!!!

now i've just got to fall pregnant, and find my special gal :D

I know what you mean... my DH was the same, i am a Doula, and he knows what i do and is all for it... but i thought he would be the sort to say, you dont need a doula cos you are a doula.... but he said to me a couple of months ago, so who are you going to get to be your Doula? i just about fainted in shock! lol
