Hi, we are considering trying for first baby....being badly hospital-phobic (due to hospital experience when I was a baby) and totally scared of the whole birth thing - I want to opt for an elective c/s. I am also one of those people who are totally afraid of needles and any surgical procedure - I break down at the thought of having a mole on my back looked at!!!!!!

I have read some of the comments on the Caesarean forum and a lot of you seem to have had good experiences with c/s. I agree that people need to be informed about what they do and the choice they make, which is why I am doing my research before I even fall pregnant.

I live in the southern suburbs of Sydney - St George area - and will probably end up in St George Private hospital or Hurstville Private having a baby and would like to know if anyone can recommend a brilliant Obstetrician who makes the whole process stress and as "pain friendly" as possible.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Tracey

Hi...

I had Thomas through an elective C at the Royal North Shore and it was the most interesting experience, I didn't feel the pain because the team doctors were wonderfull, they were laughs even, I kid you not because it wasn't 'emergency' kind of surgery if you know what i meant and our Thomas is now a very healthy & happy 2.5 months old boy.

As I had mentioned in diff post, you will one way to another experince discomfort or little pain wether you have baby naturally or C section lets face it delivering baby aint an easy job! Unless you are a super woman! :) But who cares if at the end of the day you'll have the most beautifull bub/s?

Base from our experience, my advice to you is visit the hospitals you are planning to have and I guarantee they will be able to give you the list of Obstetricians and don't forget to ask their recomendation.

By the way, I'm also totally with you about searching and planning before deciding to have a baby. I think it's a very smart idea, morally, spiritually and money wise! We had also plan all these to happen. We decided to start a family when our mortgage is settle, our jobs are secured and we had travelled overseas enough (Europe, Asia, NZ and interstates) so we thought we are ready to settle down, and indeed we are!

Its such a bliss to have our Thomas!

So good luck in searching and finding the best Ob! :D
