How would you react if ur child latched on to say ur arm and wouldnt let go and was biting so hard?
I've had similar things happen. I usually just say "owwwwwwwwww" really loud (not purposly but instinctively) and if that doesn't work I put my finger in his mouth and pry his jaw open. It's pretty easy to do.

Well biting back does not work - old wives tale
A loud squeal/screech works the shock factor sometimes - normally only works for a couple times though
I flicked/pinched dd's ear. (Gawd, I sound awful, but the Doctor recommended I needed a tetnus injection once when the skin was broken)

yep, i've done the pry the jaws apart thing before.
DD was a big bitter, and is still a very bad occasional bitter... Shes a blood drawer. I've screamed, I've yelled, I've punished, I've smacked, I've "thrown toys in the bin", which is probably whats worked most effectively... Ultimately, if she gets in a rage, shes still a biter, I just think she needs to grow out of it on her own.

I would stay as calm as I could, unlatch him and tell him 'stop, biting hurts'. And leave it at that. If they don't get reactions, the novelty will wear off after a while.

Hold his nose, they open their mouth soon enough then  I'd rather hold his nose than flick his ear, quite frankly - I didn't realise you can catch tetanus from a child
