Ok so I have a blocked duct at the moment and I need to stop it from forming in to mastitis(sp) I have been expressing, feeding constantly from the boob in question. Hot shower and bath... I'm starting to feel blah and my eyes are stingy and my noes is fuzzy..
Help to stop it from progressing to th next step...

get in the shower and massage and massage and massage! hand express it while in there.
Get bub to feed off it as much as possible and rest up. If possible feed him with his chin on the blocked duct. If that makes sense!!
Put a warm face washer on it before feeding and expressing and put a cold pack on it when you aren't to help relieve it. I found filling up sposies with water and popping them in the freezer to be excellent.
If it starts going down hill go to the docs or hospy. It can go downhill really fast. I had really bad mastitis about 2 months ago and it was horrible. I ended up in hospy and it almost turned into a abcess! Ouch!!
If you do end up in hospy make sure they don't try and talk you out of not feeding bubs. When i went they tried to send Coop home with my parents and they even said i couldn't b/f with the anti-biotics which was a load of hogwash!!
Hope you are feeling better soon!

Yep, everything jaxcoop said.
Also, go to a physio. They massage the blocked duct and use ultrasound. The next time you feed after the treatment you feel a huge release of the blockage.
But do go to a GP if you start to feel rotten. Don't mess around with mastitis.

Also if I do go to hospital Spencer will have to stay because I know no one here he could go home with... except you bubhub girls??
I was more than a bit shocked when I woke up and my boob was hard as a rock and not like engorgement just heavy and hard.

You can take bub with you. they will probably put you in the childrens ward cause that's where they have the cots.
I went on the ordinary ward, which i wasn't supposed to cause of the child protection act, but they got me a room on my own so they allowed it. They just put the cot in next to me.
I hope for your sake that it goes away and it unblocks, cause its a bugger getting mastitis

yay! Thats great news! Well done spencer!! Doesn't it feel good! When i had mastitis it took days to unblock and when it did, it was such a relief! I would still get him to keep drinking off that side so it fully unblocks and doesn't return

mmm not sure it just feels softer, but still tender... hoping that Spencer keeps up the great work during the night feeds and releases the rest...
I was told by the ABA to rest up and relax as stress can increase the chances of blockages..huh we will have to see about that...

I know easier said then done hey! Also eat heaps of fresh fruit and veg, keep your immunity up. And if you can go and take spencer to bed with you and lie around all day and get him to feed as much as possible.
Good luck! Hope its gone and doesn't come back! Keep us posted on how you go :)
