I just need to share a little story, not sure if I am over-reacting.

Yeaterday my DS and I had lunch with Mum, my step-dad, aunty and uncle from interstate. So DS is only 2 1/2 and he's quick, so I left him in the stroller while I was saying goodbye to everyone. Mum took him out and folded up the stroller to put it in the car (trying to help) but then she didn't watch him and he nearly ran onto the road.

When I turned around and saw where he was, I started yelling at her and she was saying "oh no harm done, he is fine" but eventually apologised when she could see how upset I was.

Now I feel bad. I cried all the way home cos I'm a bit hormonal at the moment too  I called her and said sorry for yelling at you, and she just goes "I should be used to it by now, you've been doing it to me all your life". :banghead:

I'm not really asking for advice here, my relationship with Mum is usually pretty good, I was interested in other's stories of close calls like that, maybe it can help us all to be more aware of our kids safety.

I'm sorry you went through such an ordeal with your DS and mum. It can be very frightening at times because you only have to turn your back for a few seconds and little ones can take off. I'm sure you're mum didn't intentionally take her eyes off him. Perhaps she also wanted to join in the "goodbyes" as well.

In your post you said "he nearly ran onto the road" so was he not on the road when you saw him?? If he wasn't on the road then perhaps your hormones were making you overreact to "what could of happened".

It sounds from your mum's comment that perhaps you have further issues with her than this particular incident.

I hope things get better between you both because I don't know what I'd do if my mum wasn't here and I dread the day when she is taken away from me.

big hugs to you :hugs: :hugs:

Thanks butterflykisses, I'm sure we'll get over it. That's why it shocked me so much because Mum and I really are close and usually quite in tune with each other. Just to clarify, it was a parralel parking on a busy road, Mum was standing at the front of the car and DS was at the white line
