DD1 who is over 7 months old didnt go to sleep last night until 9pm but Im starting to think that 9pm seems more suitable for her than 8.30 as she always seems to go past 8.30pm to go to sleep.

Anyways last night I tried something different.
Shes teething with 4 teeth, I can see canines about to pop through too. Her breastfeeds have been very snacky throughout the day.

She was being fussy again at 8.30, eats, stops, eats...looks around...turned the light off....eats stops...Nothing worked just couldnt get her to eat.
Mind you she did have a 20 min feed at 7pm after her bath.

So me, being a bit tired and fed up after all of this I decided to wrap her and pop her into bed.

She cried for two mins tops, silence then sooked a little again.

By this stage she must have realised that yes it is her bed time and not time to look around and play!

She finally ended up eating properly and going to sleep.

I dont like the controlled crying approach and have never let her cry longer than a few mins but this might be the way to go tonight if I struggle.

I feel sorry for her that she is teething and am using medicine and bonjela but it does get ridiculous having to spend so much time to help her wind down for the night. 1 hour a night after a day of snacking can really wear me out.

Just thought id share.

Some nights I am in there BF for 90mins she just won't latch off, clever me bought her a nice big bed so I just go to sleep next to her lol

My DD goes to bed anywhere between 9-10.30pm Never been able to get her down much before 9

Sounds like the teeth really play a huge part, my DD snacks big time when teething!

Thanks for responding :)

Its so nice to hear from someone in the same boat as me.

My entire mothers group is on bottled formula and Im the only one left breastfeeding!!

Feels good in a way! Many of them tried but werent able to do it and are thinking of doing it second time around with their next babies.

The heat doesnt help either. Dont know If i should install a ceiling fan as it gets hard snuggling up to her to feed her. Her internal body core temperature is very high.
She gets warm just like DH. Gets it from him i think. Had to get the singlet off last night.
Still to warm even at 15 degrees last night.
DH thinks I can go without the ceiling fan but im not so sure. He doesnt know what its like to BF there for over an hour!

Oh god you need some sort of air con! I had my DD at the end of summer 06 but then the summer after it was hell! even a standing fan will help a lot. babies are hot little things eh!
