My 6 month old daughter has decided it is fun to blow rasberries with food in her mouth. Does anyone have any suggestions for curbing this??? I have tried saying no sternly although it is quite hard to do this without laughing, have tried taking the food away but these seem to make no difference, she just seems to think this it is all quite funny. She has been on solids for about 4 weeks now and has just started doing this in the last couple of days.
Cheers

Hi Tracey,
My DD used to do this as well a few months ago. At first I couldn't stop laughing (bad response!! :o ), and then I told her "no!". This was also a bad response :( , it just made her confused & upset. What I did find that worked & is still working is to ignore the behaviour (hard, I know). I remain expressionless, clean the mess around her & on me, then continue feeding. It didn't take long for DD to realise that blowing raspberries was pointless & no longer funny as mummy didn't laugh or react in any way.
I was surprised how quickly she caught on & I was so relieved it worked!
Hope this helps,
Karen
Hi Tracey
I think that Karen is right. My daughter also started doing this, but it didn't last for very long (only about a week or so). I suppose they think its a clever and new thing to do, but I guess for most the novelty wears off pretty quick (esp. if they get zero reaction from you).
Cheers
