View Full Version : Learning how to sit up..
Hi everyone,
I just wanted to know how you child/ren learnt how to sit up?
I thought that they just built up enough strength and sat up whilst laying on their back, but yesterday DS rolled onto his tummy and moved around a bit and all of a sudden was sitting up!! I am very happy, shocked at how fast he is doing stuff..
So how did your child sit up?

DS is 6 months and hes been sitting up by himself since he was 4 months. but i just kept on sitting him up and when hed start to tip over id straighten him up again.
Hi there
I started off propping Andrew up with pillows, when he coudl reasonably sit on his own, but still a bit wobbly.
Even now (he is 12 months) if he is lying down, to sit up he will either pull up on something, or roll over and sit up. It sorts of looks like when he rolls over he sort of crawls a step backwards to get his legs in the right spot to sit.
He has never sat up in the way that you said - you know, like sit-ups style. Can't say I blame him - how many of us get up from lying down that way, with no hands? :)

Yeah bubs is pretty much like Andrew - Nicoles bubs he sorta rolls to the side then pushes up when he learnt that he thought he was the greatest thing LOL !
Now he thinks he is great because he greets me dancing :smiliedance: in his cot every morning LOL.
Try not to worry how he is doing things remember each baby is different.
Harry actually learnt to sit up around the 5mth mark but then decided he was too "cool" to do it  especially as he had adults to help him sit etc so i just started propping him up more & he got the hint
Sounds like your in for trouble with him heheheh its so much fun though heheh :D
My DS didnt sitl up to he was about 7-8 months old i was a bit worried at first but all of a sudden he just did it now hes running a muck all around the house!!
