Well, that's the Gold Coast for you! I lived there for 18 months for my husband's job and hated it. It's a culture free zone, people drive like crazy things (I think it's the fast roads?) and all anyone is interested in is money. You should try Brissie next time!

Yeah I think I might I had someone drive on the wrong side of the road three times....Like they where not swerving the actually where ion the wrong side of the island..

And when I dropped my car rental off it was fine but yet they charged me 450 case the windscreen was apparently cracked big time Uh I think I would of noticed that...

People Just where not very friendly...

I always hated sydney until now!

I have lived here all my life & like anywhere you have your ups & downs...I am sorry you encountered so much rudeness but we are not all like that or I would have no one in my life worth being around!
But I don't hang out in the touristy parts....where did you stay?

 We moved up from Sydney and I would never go back down there!!

I agree about the gold coast though. Don't think I could live there myself.

Hope your next visit is better!

Yes Pacific fair is my heaven on earth Valentine
I never go past Broadbeach unless I absolutely HAVE TO :D but believe me when I say most people here in my life are great & money is definitely not the most important thing to us
You should have come to my house for a play & seen inside the life of a normal & sometimes :dizzy: Gold Coaster :D
BTW my DH grew up with the Goldstein boys(parents are pie shop owners)

I grew up on the GC and as a former local I can tell you that the vast majority of locals avoid the tourist spots like the plague. I've never actually swam at Surfers. I can't even begin to tell you how much it's changed. When we moved there in 1972 there was 1 highrise.

I'm sorry you met so many rude people. The city depends so much on tourism and they should remember that.

My favourite place will always be Burleigh Heads. :bee:

Palm Cove ... we went there earlier this year and it is GORGEOUS. No theme parks but close to Port Douglas, and there is plenty to do there (diving, sailing, trips to Daintrees, ...). But Palm Cove ... what a gorgeous, scenic, stylish and relaxing place!

You will have to come to the Sunshine Coast next time. I love it!! I have lived here for 5 years and will never go anywhere else! Its big enough to have great shopping, but small enough that there is a community feeling

I think you need to know what you are going to when you go to the gold coast, its a world of its own, well surfers paradise is anyhow, i dont mind the busyness and atmosphere of the place for a holiday, its like going to a busy city compared to the sunshine coast where i live, I couldn't live there though
