I fully BF DS and around 2 months ago DD who is 26 months now came out and told me " mummy i have boobie too" .
I tried explaining that they are DS's boobies now, and that's where he gets his milk from.
Anyway, at least a couple of times a week, whilst in the middle of BF DS she will ask me (or TELL me) that she will be having boobie and then persists on trying to unlatch my bra!!
So i guess im after opinions/advice as to whether it's possible to feed her again if this is what she wants?
Im just not sure, is this too weird?
Ta,
I promise you, she sees your breasts purely as a source of something that the baby is getting and she is not.
There is nothing weird about that as far as I can see. You know what toddlers are like, lol.
There is nothing weird or even surprising about it when you think about it.
Its kinda cute. Kids are so beautifully innocent and see breasts for their primary function. I wish society would take a leaf out of their book.
Its perfectly acceptable to breastfeed a 26 month old if both mother and child are happy.

Dd done exactly the same thing when i started bf ds,i let her try it but she doesn't really like the taste she does still have some every now and again but quickly remembers what it tastes like LOL.
I would let her experience it,hey maybe she will like it!

It isnt weird at all. It may just be curiosity or she really does want to bf again.
My DS1 says the same thing and I have offered it to him when he asks. He just giggles and says no mum I was only pretending to want it:rolleyes:
If you are comfortable for your DD to start bf again then go for it. Its not like it is going to do her any harm....far from it:thumbsup:

If shes comfy and your comfy then why not? I woke up a few weeks ago to dd with her mouth on my boob LOL i freaked but i soon got over the intial shock, i ended up giving her a taste in a cup to end her curiosity and she said it (her words) "lyuck that tastes ike sh1T mum" LOL so that novelty soon went :)
I am not sure what i would do if she wanted too feed though guess when it come to that i would know what to do

punkbaby. that's too funny, I love how honest they can be.
Ya know what i wouldn't be surprised if DD latched on while i was asleep...she's just mastered sneaking into the our bed of a night time (so cute)
MrsTwith3, kids for you huh!
Well next time she asks, i think i'll offer it to her and she how it all goes!
thanks again!

Im currently waiting for this to happen cause Boof has been getting more edgy about Squeak getting boob but so far he hasnt tried.
He does however lie down next to us when we feed in bed & snuggles real close ... Gotta love that !

I'd love to have another baby soon so if my DD (older than yours already) wanted a try she could. I sometimes look at her, and think, "She's such a baby," and would love to be able to breastfeed her (not that I think she'd be interested right at this point in time... maybe if I had a baby suckling she would).
If you're happy to offer her the breast, it can only be good for her health... but physically and emotionally - not weird or anything at all.

Last night my mum popped in and the 'issue' was bought up, she feels it's a really bad idea.
In that, developmentally and psychologically it could cause her to regress back to doing baby-ish type things.
Basically, that she is past that & it could be very confusing for her....blah blah
And then she goes on to say right at the end ... that it's my desicion of course! after she has 'told' me that it won't be happening.
So know i don't know what to do!
Don't suppose there is any info out there somewhere about this type of thing? I've tried 'googling' but no luck so far! :dizzy:
The thing is, when you have a new baby, you older child does revert in some ways, it is a completely natural response, and she is simply seeking reassurance about this new situation.
I would have no problems letting her try the boob if she desires, you will simply be meeting her needs for reassurance, and i am fairly sure that once she is feeling secure again, and in her comfort zone, then she won't feel the need for it.
Breastfeeding and older child does not make them regress, I have an almost 4 year old who is still feeding, and I get so many comments about how independant he is.
Your daughter is expressing a need, one which is about her core security, and if you simply honour her need, she will be validated, then move on. If you deny her, you may well be setting yourself up for ongoing battles, and grief.
I certainly wouldn't want to be coping with that with a newborn to look after.
All the best :)
I know many people whos toddlers have expressed a passing interest in the boob when the baby comes, it really is completely normal, and actually, no big deal.

You are so wise AM - and I agree with everything you said.
It is about reassurance and security .....

I was speaking with an an aba lady and she said that it is very common. I am sure that when my little one asks for milk when the 2nd comes along I will give it to her...maybe after a let down or something...dont know if after 7 months of not feeding she will forget how to do it???
If shes comfy and your comfy then why not? I woke up a few weeks ago to dd with her mouth on my boob LOL i freaked but i soon got over the intial shock, i ended up giving her a taste in a cup to end her curiosity and she said it (her words) "lyuck that tastes ike sh1T mum" LOL so that novelty soon went :)
