well i've got DH's work xmas doo this weekend, I want to have a few drinks so will have expressed milk for DD to have from a bottle :fingerscrossed: she'll take the bottle

anyways my question is, how often should I express during the night? I should throw out my expressed milk while i'm drinking ay? and also how long after my last drink will it be alright to breast feed again????

this is my first time out drinking while breast feeding, with DS I didn't go out drinking once the whole time feeding him so this is all new to me

Hey love!

You don't need to pump and dump anymore, apparently the alcohol is absorbed into your body just like if you were to have a few drinks you wouldn't be able to drive till the alcohol is out well you would have to wait for it to be absorbed back into you to BF. It is 2 hours for the first drink and I think 1 hour after that, so if you had 2 drinks you would wait 3 hours so on... But maybe you could go onto the ABA website just to double check.

Hey Chick

OK here goes it, I don't drink wine or beer or any of thoes woosy drinks lol, so you can imagine what i'm going to be like drinking :devil6:

so is it the same when your drinking the stonger drinks?

DD goes 8 hours between feeds at night from about 9pm onwards, so if I were to express before then, then if I didn't express for 8hrs later then the milk will be fine?????????

oh this breast feeding and drinking combo is just too hard lol, I don't want to harm her or get her drunk on my milk lol

What Elle said is right, and so long as you measure your drinks & count each STANDARD drink (ie 30mL of most normal spirits, less for top shelf ones with more alcohol) then you will get the idea of how many to have. If you have 10 in that 8hr period - you would still prob have alcohol in your milk, but 3-4 standard drinks you should be fine.

I usually limit mine to one or 2 early int he evening if i am going to drink at all, mostly 'cause I am not certain if DS will sleep for 3hrs or 6.
