what is a cup?
There are many threads within the Cloth Mama section explaining was menstrual cups are :)
In short, they are made from medical grade silicon (there is one made from latex). They are inserted similarly to a tampon, but rather than absorb blood (as well as the rest of your uterus lining), cups collect the menstrual blood. Once filled, you either empty it into the toilet or onto a plant (fantastic fertilizer!).
No chemicals, last approx 10 years making the cost of them about $3.50 - $6.00 per year (depending on the brand of cup and their price), and you're no longer throwing something away that takes hundreds of years to decompose.
Google: Obsidian Star Menstrual Cups.
You'll find more information regarding cups (and cloth) than you could poke a stick at :)
