Hiya
DD is almost 4 and has been in pants for well over a year, however she still wears a nappy at nighttime. We have little conversations about this, no pressure, and we talk about when she's four she won't need nappies anymore and she says it to so I'm :fingerscrossed:. I think that she really only does a wee in the morning after she's woken up so I've mentioned to her a few times that she can just take it off and go to the toilet if she needs to - just trying to encourage the idea.
Anyway is this about an average age for night time nappies to come off? I thought it was a bit late?
mine were all around 3...but we still put them on the toilet when we went to bed .. had few wet beds but that will happen .. do what you think is right for you ... we just bit the bullett & did it .. my youngest dd is 3 in march so will be doing it around then for her too .. we cut all drinks back at tea time ... ds was a massive struglle hes only really stopped wetting the bed in last 6-8 months & he was 6 in august .. i think girls are easier then boys but thats just how its happened for me ..
good luck

The thing about night-dryness is that it is truly uncontrollable. The brain starts releasing a hormone which enables her to "hold it in" whilst asleep, and also it concentrates the urine so that it's easier to wait until morning. But some kids take a bit longer to start producing this hormone. My daughter's GP said to bring her back a few months after her 7th birthday if she still isn't night-dry. But the only real medical option is to give synthetic hormones, and I won't do that  and I just read something today in the paper about a nasal spray product for bedwetting that is causing some health problems. And the fact is, kids develop at different rates, and you can't make her brain produce the hormone.
My daughter's best friend (same age) was night-dry from the very first day she was completely day-dry. She's never wet her bed, ever, and yet my daughter has had about 4 dry nights in her whole life.
A fair chunk of the kids in your daughter's reception/prep class will still be wetting the bed. I think it's 10% of 5 year olds are still not night-dry. And 5% of 7 year olds.
:)
Ds is 3.5 and had been day dry/clean since his 2nd birthday. However, he is still wet most nights.
We talk with him about getting to wear undies when he doesn't wet his nappies at night anymore, but that's as far as we go. If he needs Drynights at 7, then so be it.
It's another one of those very individual things - DD was totally dry (and has had a grand total of 3 wet beds) since she was around 3.

DS 'toilet trained' just about overnight at a month or two past his 3rd birthday. He went from being clueless to being completely clean/dry one day.
A couple of months later, we are still using night nappies, despite the fact that he hasn't had a single wet nappy overnight since, mostly because we cosleep and I don't want to be up in the night changing wet sheets :o
Like queenie said, I think overnight wetting is something that cannot be helped, so I would wait until her night nappies are completely dry before putting her in undies :)
